this is an ‘off my chest’ moment. we held Cornwall Pride last weekend and considering the high covid rates in Cornwall we kept it an open-air only event, limiting numbers at the gates and asking people to mask up in crowded areas. the media painted it like we were satan himself, breathing covid upon the whole of cornwall, but in reality it was probably no more of a risk than going to the beach at the moment (it’s quite busy on the beaches bc of tourist season)

anyway, a trans organisation here in cornwall pulled out at the very last minute citing ‘covid’ as a reason - an hour before the start of the event, which meant we couldn’t fill the spot (where another organisation could have taken its place)...

that would have been fine except they went back and had a party at a private venue with no masks and no social distancing where they were all practically breathing in each other’s faces and i just????

CORNWALL PRIDE: Elaine and I went to St Austell Pride yesterday. Such a great day - sky was cloudless, sun was full - and everyone was happy - the way things are meant to be. Fuck haters, be happy.
