10 MAY 2024 || DUCHY OF CORNWALL VISIT - ISLES OF SCILLY (2/2) : ST MARY'S COMMUNITY HOSPITAL
For his final engagement in the Isles of Scilly, the Duke of Cornwall visited St Mary's Community Hospital to meet staff and hear about the new integrated health and social care facility which is set be built on adjacent land owned by the Duchy.
St Mary's Community Hospital provides inpatient and outpatient clinics serving the Isles of Scilly and works closely with the NHS paramedic services on the islands, providing wrap around care to island residentsand visitors.
Upon arrival, William met the staff and heard about the challenges of delivering healthcare in an island setting. He also spent time with the patients currently receiving care at the hospital
The new health and social care facility will provide twelve residential care home beds, NHS inpatient beds and a modern maternity suite.
The site of the building has been provided by Duchy of Cornwall on long lease and the Duke of Cornwall took part in a groundbreaking ceremony for the same during his visit.
