30 Day Kaiju Challenge; Day 6; Insectoid
Description: Corplus is a large insect of some sort or another, most closely like that of a Scorpion. Large, stilt like legs connect to a sloping form, with a large pair of wings sticking out of the back. A scorpion like tail dons one end of the beast, while an elongated tube for a face makes up the other that ends in a needle like point. The legs do their best at not breaking water surface tension, while the proboscis is able to pierce hard objects like ships.
- Supersonic Flight: Corpulus can take off suddenly, and zoom away faster than jets can pursue it. This makes tracking the beast hard when it decides to bail on a situation.
- Corrosive Spray: The stinger on Corpulus’s tail can shoot out a stream of a corrosive liquid, melting down metals in minutes and eat through flesh easily. This is used mainly as a defensive measure however.
- Water Tension Suspension: Using its legs and an internal energy recorded on thermal imaging, it can suspend itself on water without breaking the surface. This allows it to land as if it was land rather than water.
- Skittish Beast: Corpulus is a terribly shy kaiju, often fleeing at the sight of a battleship or any organized military involvement or study. Only lone, small ships have been able to see what it’s doing up close, and very rarely for long.
Backstory: One of the most mysterious kaiju on Earth, Corpulus is a rarely seen beast. Only viewed on the surface of the ocean when it comes down, or in the air zooming at high speeds, the beast has little want to interact with the world below for it at all. The first real confirmed and documented sighting was in the bay of New York City, where it descended and began to drink in the sea water through its proboscis, before really noticing the highly noisy city and the military building up to deter it. It quickly took off, vanishing from the city limits. It has been sighted since then drinking from the oceans, with only a few spare glances in the sky by jets and other high speed travel vehicles, most times quickly veering away from the curious beings below.
How They Interact with Other Kaiju: Only a single instance where Koga accidentally surfaced beneath Corpulus has been noticed, which earned a quick spray of the corrosive spray at him. Koga quickly dove away to free himself of the spray, giving Corpulus plenty of time to escape. It seems no living thing can interest the insect, which doesn’t bother mankind at all.
There was once a post that had Cthullu looking down at us at bugs, and reacting simialrly. Taking a Scopionfly, making it a kaiju, and adding this created Corpulus into the batch really. Not much more to say on this one.
