The Herbal Grimoire
There are so, so many plants out there and all of them have some place in witchcraft. Some are used to curse, others to heal. Some are used to fly, others assist in grounding. But which ones are used for what? And further, why do we use them as such? This site is brimming with lists on lists of correspondences for herbs and flowers and trees, but why? Why can rosemary be used in place of any herb? Why use basil for happiness in one spell and protection in another? Where does all of this come from?
And this is why I’m here. These questions have been burning in me long enough that I decided to stop waiting for some one to tell me and go out and find the answer for myself. I am delving into mythology and folk medicine. I will explore stories rich with lore. I want more than just a list of what I will write a story of why.
This will act as a virtual grimoire dedicated to this topic alone. I’ll post new entries as I often as I can, but my personal goal is one plant a week. I will site all of my sources and do my best to find multiple sources for each claim I make.
So I guess what I’m saying is if detailed histories of plants excites you, you’ve come to the right place.
Welcome to The Herbal Grimoire.
