Progress:

I wrote 5k on the first day! I’m pretty pumped about that. 

I also did character profiles for Corrie, Nathaniel and Iris. 

I discovered 9 characters I didn’t know about before, several of whom are background characters but also:

Sabrina Wuopio, Iris’s best friend who lives in a haunted house, probably

Shay Wuopio, Sabrina’s genderqueer older sibling

Lindy, a trans boy in Iris’s class who is afraid of ghosts (but is one of their best friends even though they’re ghost obsessed)

honestly, I’m really pleased with what I have so far, I like what I’ve written and I like where this story is going

I’ve introduced most of the basics of the plot, and what needs to be introduced this early now it’s time to start the early signs of a “haunting” from Katie

I’m debating whether to include Zeus in my NaNoWriMo novel and most of me says no don’t do that you’ll make things over complicated and there’s really no reason to include that random little spat with Zeus because I’m not even entirely sure what the implications of that would be for Corrie and more than likely the lightning was just a coincidence. 

But at the same time, it could add an interesting set of depth and answer some questions about why Corrie was the one chosen and how it was always in her destiny to go into things like this.

I’ll probably decide when I actually start writing.

this story is winding down and also reminding me why I don’t really plan because no one is doing what I thought they would

Katie was supposed to go to Corrie about Noah, but now Corrie is going to Katie about Savannah and I don’t know how Noah figures in

I still haven’t had Corrie figure out the actual extent of her powers

Nathaniel knows about Gigi and about Corrie literally going to find Katie rn, and he isn’t mad which means I know nothing about him at all because that goes against everything 

Katie and Corrie isn’t a thing at all, because Katie is clearly in love with the other Katie

Savannah still might actually have a crush on Aura though, that I think I do know for sure

and Corrie is clearly afraid of something other than what I thought she was because she’s not doing what I thought she would 

and Shay is doing what I thought they would do so there’s that

but I think I should be done with it by the end of the month so yay! it’s winding down nicely and Corrie is on her way to talk to Katie now

Day 13, 1/13- Day 15, 1/15

Progress:

I’m not actually sure what this story is doing. It took some turns I wasn’t expecting and then I was like, oh so that’s going to happen, but then it didn’t. So I’m not sure. 

Savannah has told the internet about Miss Neilssen’s connection to The River Bank Tapes. Katie knows this is and went to tell Corrie. 

Gigi attacked and Katie saved Corrie, but then didn’t end up telling her about Savannah. 

I need to flesh out that “attack” more because it fell kind of flat, and I think I need to flesh out Gigi a bit more as well. More details about their past. 

Aura knows about Gigi and Katie now, or at least, the existence of Katie and is kind of mad at Corrie for not having told her already. 

Nathaniel is taking Iris for a few days but it was late by the time he got there to pick her up, so he’s spending the night. I thought he was going to see Katie, or they were going to end up in a fight, but instead he apologized for some past stuff? I don’t... I don’t know. I’m not sure what he’s doing and it doesn’t look like he’s going to spot Katie either. 

Corrie keeps dreaming of Nathaniel.

Day 334, 11/30

Progress:

last day of NaNo, I really wanted to actually finish the novel but it became clear around 9:30 when I didn’t know how it was going to end that it probably wouldn’t happen

it didn’t. but I do know how it is going to end now, or at least, a lot more of an idea than I had before

the documentary about Katie that happened pre-novel, pre-Corrie, is called The River Bank Tapes, and Katie does not wish to discuss it

Shakespeare is himself a Story (the type of demon like thing that Katie is), and he went rogue and wrote his own stories which is like a weird thing but it gave me some insight into how Stories work

Corrie is now aware that everything in the River Bank Tapes was absolutely and utterly true, and that changes things

Auralie is going come visit for the week because she’s suspended from school and their mom wants Corrie to keep her out of trouble

which means Katie can’t be there, because Auralie knows nothing about Katie at all

so Katie goes to visit the teacher Katie, Katie N. 

Seth is spying on Katie N because of his conversation with Corrie earlier

Both Katies appear together and freak Seth the fuck out, complete with some revelations about the nature of their relationship and facts about The River Bank Tape

there’s a toddler with a missing soul, and I think the Katies want Corrie to somehow fix it. an imply that she has the power to do so?

Libby and Corrie continued to discuss the whole thing about Katie and her existence 

Libby also told Corrie that Auralie got into a fight at school defending Sora against some bullies, and all three of them ended up suspended from school 

Libby heard Katie’s voice over the phone and I think it put an actual seed of doubt into her mind 

a small bit of Katie’s backstory, just a seed of it, to be continued
