February 6th: Reversible Campaign
Was in a writing mood today so why not?Today’s prompt is a song I’ve always wanted to write about. If you don’t know me, Reversible Campaign is one of my favorite songs ever and ever since I saw that NDRV3 music video using this song, I’ve always wanted to write this. While Reversible Campaign is originally by DECO*27, I’ll be using the English lyrics written by ❀ rachie/れいち ❀ hope you enjoy!
Summary: Shuichi grows after Kaede’s death, and her love gives him the courage to face the mastermind.
Shuichi Saihara
That was the name of the Ultimate Detective she met. Diffident, submissive and weak. Many people brushed him off as just another person. Danganronpa saw him as an opportunity. The audience loved to see the weakest Ultimate Detective grow. But she saw something else. Kaede Akamatsu saw behind this veil. She saw him as comforting, talented and one that she would be able to trust with her life. She wanted to end the killing game together with her, but that dream ended the moment she picked up the shotput ball for the first time in her life. Shuichi could only cry as he desperately reached out to her as she was dragged to her execution.
Kaede Akamatsu
That was the name of the Ultimate Pianist who gave her life up in order to end the killing game. He had believed in her plans, admired her confidence and leaderlike qualities and her kindness. Compared to him, she was the perfect protagonist for Danganronpa. She had the potential to end the killing game… too much potential. Within the end, it was her downfall, leading to her death. But she left a seed to the Ultimate Detective: her love. It nurtured him, gave him the courage he needed to go forward. Their imaginary exchange within the talent lab gave him push he needed to cast away the barrier that prevented him from growing: his hat. He could only imagine how happy Kaede would have been to see him without his hat.
Shuichi Saihara
That was the name of the Ultimate Detective that grew during the killing game. He helped solve the murders which were so meticulously planned by the culprit, proving his worth for his talent. While she was gone, he made friends that he never thought he would be able to make by himself. Shuichi was determined to uncover the secrets behind the school. He wanted to carry out his wish and save as many people as he could. But like her, he failed. Nine others died like she did. As hard as he tried to save them, in the end, he was just one person. However, he had one challenge ahead of him as Kiibo flew above them all, slowly destroying the school.
Kaede Akamatsu
That was the name of the Ultimate Pianist whom they thought killed Rantaro Amami the Ultimate Survivor. Yet in that final class trial, they were proven wrong. Her fate should have never lead to her death when it completely missed his head. She was innocent, having never been responsible for his death in the first place. Towards the final moments in her life, as she was violently slammed into the keys of the oversized piano, she had felt guilty for his death. She had died believing in a lie the true killer had created. Kaede Akamatsu had deserved to live in the place of the true killer. It wasn’t supposed to be this way.
Shuichi Saihara
That was the name of the boy who applied for Danganronpa. He claimed to be a huge fan of the series, desiring to take on the title of the Ultimate Detective. Unlike his counterpart, he was nervous, disturbed but most prominently psychopathic. His sole desire was to become a part of this deadly reality show, willing to go to extreme lengths to do so. He promised the appeal of gruesome murders and even what he claimed to be the perfect punishment for the Ultimate Detective. But this Shuichi died when the Monokubs exposed him to the flashback light for the first time.
Kaede Akamatsu
That was the name of the girl he met when he when he first woke up in this godforsaken school. She refused to believe in people and had trouble trusting anyone. Yet she applied to Danganronpa for reasons unknown, only mentioning she was the perfect participant due to her lack of faith in humanity. A phrase she would recite with a smile that was unnerving even to those who were interviewing. However it was expected, all Danganronpa fans were crazy in their own way. But of course, it would all change once they were given their first memories.
Shuichi Saihara
That was the name of the weak Ultimate Detective that he would revert back to. Told his entire life a lie and all of his actions were scripted he began to fall into despair. Why did this matter anymore? What purpose did he have in life when everything was his fiction: his friendship with Kaito and Maki, the genuine care he felt for all of the other classmates, his love for Kaede… In the end, he was weak, just like what Team Danganronpa intended him to be. Weak weak weak weak weak… weak… weak…
Kaede Akamatsu
That was the name of the Ultimate Pianist whom he loved. She may not have been real but her feelings for him was genuine and lasted all this time. Danganronpa may have claimed it was fake, but Kaede knew that she had truly loved him. She had only hoped that he would realize that his love for her wasn’t fake either. In the end, he did. Shuichi recalled that her love was always here beside him. In the end, it turned him upside down completely and made him happy. Their love for each other made it possible for Shuichi to convince the hardcore fans of this game to finally forsake this madness once and for all.
Shuichi Saihara and Kaede Akamatsu
These were the names of the two people who would end Danganronpa. Although Shuichi was the only one out of the two who had survived the killing game, her influence would always be with him. She would help him move forward into the peaceful world that desired Shuichi’s, Maki’s and Himiko’s survival. Although one day he knew that he would finally be able to move past her death and she would no longer need to encourage him, Kaede would always be a part of him. Their love for each other extended beyond the grave and reality itself.
