it really is. the companions and story are good it’s just… buried under so much shit. and there’s aspects i like about the combat, but overall i miss me3’s style. only being about to use 3 powers at a time esp when most of the game is pointless mobs is… tedious. like yeah me3 is a hot mess at the end but it’s fun up until then
I've never finished dai either.... same issue. i never get v far on replays. it just takes too damn long. i think that's my problem is im a completionist but i can't focus so it's just a stalemate of if it's not perfect what's the point.... which is dumb bc it's a game it's supposed to be fun!!
i kno!! its kind of frustrating the way bioware has decided its games now need to be stuffed to the gills with enormous maps and endless fetch quests, not only bc I Don’t Really Like Those but bc it acts as a story gate. that’s not...rlly a thing in bethesda games? there’s a freedom there that allows you to mostly play whatever storylines you want when you want, and ignore the others without it having much of any impact. so there’s less of completionist stress bc you don’t have to worry that doing the thieves guild storyline will affect the college of winterhold storyline. you don’t rlly have to do the main quest to do the civil war quest. but in dai and me:a you kind of have to tool around doing basic quests to get to the stuff you’re really there for (namely, story and characters). instead of an open world, it feels like busywork. i think me:a handled it better than dai, but i mean i still had to play for over forty hours to get to my first loyalty quest in me:a. compare that to me2. that’s bananas.
like a lot of men, bioware’s gotta learn that length isn’t everything
ohh man yeah... i started surana so while not the most engaging origin story they're still my favs. i think brosca was my second. i guess i just like being a small underdog ahdsf. being catered too sounds nice i will... def do that. >> ughhhg i know!! they give you races back in dai only to totally botch it on every level... that game is really built for humans. they totally throw all the lore out the window and nothing works even on a design level w dwarves and qunari.
i have this weird love-hate thing with the mage origin bc it’s honestly my least favorite story in itself but i really enjoy playing as a mage? and not bc They’re So OP QQ, i mean like i genuinely enjoy thinking abt how my amell would react to alistair, morrigan, sten, etc based on her being a mage. but like....whereas in p much every other origin i try to go thru as slowly and carefully as possible to rlly enjoy it, with mage i’m like “mhm, yes, demons, blood magic, i get it canigonow”
i also....do not get ppl’s love for jowan. like, u do u, but eh.
