So. Plurality. It's weird! Especially for us, The Thunderstorm. We definitely have a very weird experience of being plural compared to others.
For starters, both Mozzarella and Caeruleus came into existence in completely opposite ways- Mozzarella was created on purpose, as a dæmon. A part of me that was split off to become his own being. Whereas Caeruleus feels like something unrelated that appeared and became tied to us later on. We're also median. We all feel inherently connected in some way. If you removed one of us, the others wouldn't be quite the same.
We also have great communication! We speak via thought, it's very easy to tell who said what most times as well. I'm not sure how, just.. vibes? Like, I can just tell whose thoughts are whose. And whenever we can't tell, it's usually something where who said it doesn't really matter all that much. Most thoughts are words but occasionally I've gotten wordless ones. They're rare though, and usually only when speaking would be too slow or when someone can't think of how to word something. We're bad with words at times, so being able to understand someone even when they don't know the words for what they're trying to say is convenient!
We don't switch. We never have. It's probably something we could learn to do if we really wanted to, but we don't. Mozzarella and Caeruleus are really not interested in having a human body to inhabit- Mozzarella is a shapeshifter (and has never been in a human form, for that matter) so not being able to change shape at will would feel Weird and Wrong. And Caeruleus is a Spinosaurus. Which is an animal that is not human shaped in the slightest. The only real benefit we can think of is that Mozzarella would finally get a chance to learn what he tastes like and Caeruleus gets to touch water.
So, the dæs can't front. How do they express themselves, then? Projection! Which, in short, is visualizing your headmates (or in our case, dæmons) in the corporeal world with all the humans and stuff. Projection is a team effort - I do the visualization, and whoever I'm projecting does the movements and picks the form.
Mozzarella really likes projection - if he's there, he's probably being projected. Right now, for example, he's across my shoulders as a ferret. And of course, being incorporeal allows him to shapeshift as he pleases. When we're on walks he'll be a fox, when doing laundry he might be a Microraptor, when cozy in bed he'll probably be a rat! He tries to be as realistic as possible as well, not teleporting or phasing through things much. (Unless he's a horse, then he doesn't mind phasing through things as much. But horses are very large animals.)
As for Caeruleus, he isn't projected nearly as often. He's quieter anyways. He's nearly always a Spinosaurus - if he's in another form, it's a special occasion. Usually he can be found sitting on my shoulder, lounging on the couch, or relaxing in the upstairs bathtub. He doesn't care much at all about size accuracy. Mostly because having a whole Spinosaurus in the house would be very impractical. A Spinosaurus's head is 6 feet long.. wait, what were we talking about? Plurality? Oh, yeah.
Speaking of plurality, we.. don't really have a headspace? At least, not one that we actually use. We do have one, but it's. Kinda boring. Comfy! But boring. And it certainly doesn't feel as real as projection does. Also, for some reason we always see it in third person unless we specifically try to see it in another perspective? Which. Does not help when it comes to immersion. I'm really good at visualizing (if that's the right word?) what the carpet feels like. It's nice and soft, which is nice. We've all got bedrooms but we never use them - we're not even quite sure what Mozzarella's looks like beyond "green walls" and "bunk bed". And we have no idea what the interior of Caeruleus's looks like!
Back to communication, we actually talk quite a lot most days. Even when Mozzy and Cae are both pretty quiet, one of them will still chime in with something on occasion - even if it's just a simple reminder to drink water or checking in to make sure I'm doing alright.
So, you may or may not be asking: are Mozzarella and Caeruleus dæmons or headmates? To us at least, we consider them both. There's not really a better way to describe our relationships with each other! We all take care of each other, if someone's upset someone will always try to help however they can. And it's not one way of course. If I'm upset one of the dæs will certainly try to help me, and I'll help them in return. It's as simple as that.
They're also definitely their own people, with their own personalities and preferences. For some examples, we're pretty sure Caeruleus is aromantic. I'm very much not aromantic (maybe demiromantic, but I most certainly experience romantic attraction!). Mozzarella likes the color green most - I prefer neon purple. We've got different music taste as well - not super different, but distinct enough that if you played all our favorite songs one after another, you could probably pick out whose is whose.
The point is, we're certainly not normal or typical - either by singlet or plural standards. But I don't think that's a bad thing - it's just the way we like it.
so anyways we have a new url! partially for median reasons ("corvus" isn't one person actually and only one of us is a raven) and partially because this blog is practically just mozzy and caes now. like When do you ever see me posting here. but yeah. shapeshifter-and-spinosaurus now.
Sharpwhistle just referred to barbeque chicken (like pulled pork but chicken) as, and I quote, "vermiculated chicken". Which I am still thinking about several minutes later
