“Hey,“ she cooed softly. “Did not expect to find you here, of all places.“ Find was the exact word. It had been months, if not a year or more that the demon who had possessed her had dragged her far away out of Dante‘s reach. Liv had been in a limbo, unsure where she was or how long, how she got there and most of all, how to get back again. Hell, she wasn‘t sure now if she was fully back to her old self again. But she assumed the demon had gotten bored of his plaything and thus, decided to let her go. Her hand ran through her long dark tresses, and her wide trademark smile beamed at him when inside, her heart was drumming against her ribcage like crazy. “Been a while, huh.“

calling it a while felt like an understatement, because to dante it felt like an eternity. it wasn’t often that dante failed to succeed. it wasn’t often that the godling fell short of his goals. but he had failed to save liv and the only way he could keep her alive was to let her go. it was his companionship that had gotten her possessed by a vindictive demon. one who used his love and care for her to ensure that the hunter would not come after them. the godling wasn’t certain that he’d ever see liv again and that pain cut him deeper than anything he could have imagined. it’s part of the reason why he’s spent the last year in isolation, outside of the hunts he’s been roped into. because getting close to him puts those he loves in danger. it’s a fact he’s been forced to accept. “ yea, it’s definitely been a while. how--- how did you get freed from that demon? i searched for months to try to find a way to save you, but everything i found only put you into more danger. “
