Rep. Cory Mills (R-Florida) has faced a battery of controversies during his short time on Capitol Hill.
In February, police investigated him for allegedly assaulting a woman in his D.C. apartment. In July, his landlord sought his eviction from that apartment, a $20,000-a-month luxury penthouse near the Wharf. And the Office of Congressional Conduct has recommended the House Ethics Committee review allegations that he benefited from federal weapons contracts while in office.
Now, Mills has been hit with new allegations: Lindsey Langston, the reigning Miss United States, has accused the Republican lawmaker of threatening to share sexually explicit photos and videos of her and threatening violence against her future boyfriends.

This is today’s Republican Party.
That should not be surprising, when the leader of that party is a convicted felon, best friend with a notorious pedophile, who brags about sexual assault, and was proven in court to be a literal rapist.

Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.) is prepping articles of impeachment against President Biden after he warned that the U.S. will stop supplying offensive weapons to Israel if its forces launch an invasion into Rafah.

Mills in his resolution accuses Biden of committing a quid pro quo, equating Biden’s handling of Rafah to the circumstances surrounding the first impeachment of former President Trump, who allegedly withheld weapons to Ukraine over demands for dirt on his political rivals.
The House in 2019 impeached Trump on two articles. Mills said his resolution utilizes language from Rep. Jerrold Nadler’s (D-N.Y.) impeachment articles against Trump.
“Quid Pro Joe,” he wrote on X.
Here’s what I think.
If you cover one eye and squint, there is indeed a parallel between Trump’s first impeachment and this charge against Biden.
Trump threatened to withhold aid that Congress had authorized for Ukraine.
Biden is at least temporarily withholding some of the aid that Congress just authorized for Israel.
But when you open both eyes, you will see that the motives are different.
Trump wanted Ukraine to find or invent derogatory information against his expected opponent.
Biden wants to limit civilian deaths in Rafah.
Of course Rep. Mills and other House Republicans don’t care about any of that. Trump got impeached twice, so they feel they have the right to take two whacks against the Biden administration.
It also makes me think that perhaps the first Trump impeachment was ill-advised. I am sure that some of the Democrats in Congress at the time didn't care all that much about Ukraine. (This was before the 2022 expanded Russian invasion.) They strongly disagreed with Trump’s policies, and Ukraine was just a handy stick to hit him with. It may have also blunted the impact of the second impeachment, even though this one was for crimes against American democracy.
If Trump is elected again in November, I hope that Democrats (who could conceivably retake the House majority) pick a really major cause for a third impeachment. I am afraid there would be plenty to choose from.
