sorry i wouldnt be reading epic fantasy written by a mormon if i was looking for an insightful critique of any type of class dynamics
i think i would read something else for that perhaps
Cosmere fandom is the perfect marriage of a fandom who wants nothing else but to ask the author obscure lore questions and magic system hypotheticals at panels/signings/etc and an author who wants nothing else but to answer them
gotta be honest i came outta the original mistborn trilogy with ZERO respect for any of the motherfuckers that lived
coppermind dot net cannot save you when youre listening to the audiobooks
i don't care how Wind and Truth ends. in my heart Szeth will get to herd sheep and dance to his heart's content for ever and ever
Branderson is good at writing compelling straight people I'll be the first to admit it but the Way of Kings-era shallan-jasnah bath scene and dalinar-sadeas All That homoeroticism is insane. off the charts and little Mormon boy didn't even know he was doing it
there's something distinctly odd about reading a mistborn book for the first time, when so far I've listened to each one (era one + alloy of law) as an audiobook.
I've only got one credit left and can't get any of the mistborn books on Libby (as audiobooks or otherwise), so I got the ebook for Shadows of Self and now I'm like. wait. the cognitive dissonance is so strong. I encounter a new word and wait for Michael Kramer's voice to pronounce it except that of course that's not going to happen because this is an ebook. I'd "pictured" certain words in a particular way, and then they're not At All spelt how I thought ("Pherochemy" is actually ferruchemy; "coundra" is actually kandra etc). sometimes i even catch myself thinking "hey this is such a good fanfic" because my entire experience of cosmere has been audiobooks so the only time I've read these names and words is in fanfics or on the coppermind wiki, and then remember it's not, it's an ebook, and sit there like ???
