pew ..!
it's startling. awestriking. his heart stills, if only for a moment, as he stares.
an endless cascade of stars shimmering across the surface greets him, dredging up an odd feeling from many moons ago in his chest. he'd been fresher faced then, still so young; when the grassroots of an old habit had begun, palms outstretched towards the heavens and twilight caught between the spaces of each digit. he'd reached then, and still reaches now, fruitlessly so, in hopes he could pluck one down from the inky darkness, twirling it between his fingertips like a trinket. nostalgia rolls over him in waves, and his usual manufactured grin is discarded; tossed over his shoulder, forgotten. it's replaced by something more nostalgic, fond, a touch somber -- one that's searching for something maybe, in a foreign pokemon he can't put a name to.
what a curious pokemon... were they heavensent? old celestica texts never detailed such a pokemon before; those of the cosmos, yes, but this...
he is interested, curious, terribly so, in whoever this little creature is. it brings up no familiar faces with those he's seen across the land when he flips through the pages of his memories, but he regards it as he does with all younger ones.
"why, hello hello, little one!" how many times have they heard that, he wonders? his teeth ache with sugary sweetness, and it grows when he crouches down to their height, curiosity itching beneath his skin. how strange, that they reminded him of confections. his voice is hushed, unlike his normal, afraid he might disturb the sleeping pocket of cosmos, bordering on reverent. "just what corner of the heavens did you fall from?"
