Old-Croatian Cosmogony
Old-Croatian cosmogony (folk myths on World creating and heavens structure): A condensed survey of the Croatian folk myths on the World beginning and heave from the Dinaric uplanders in West Balkans (mid-Croatia and Bosnia) distinguish from 4 to 12 traditional folk constellations and 12 - 20 names of individual stars. The Kaykavians in northwest Croatian lowlands knew up to 63 named celestial items, but their myths on cosmogony were neglected and now are almost lost. The very richest folk astrognosy occurs in southwestern nautical Chakavians of Adriatic islands naming 50-127 different celestial items, and they also conserved very complex myths od World's creation and structure of heavens, especially in their oldest legend on "100-headed dragon and Salamon's symbol".
