dormantgay looks like I’ve cleared off most of the images from my phone/computer of when I was working on this so bare with the wall of text. What you will need is wig of your choice (I also ordered extra wefts in orange and white and dyed the white a more peachy color), Insulation foam board (I get it in green but I’ve seen people buy it in pink and purple), wig head, wig stand, seam ripper, wood glue, tacky/fabric glue, thread, needle and a lot of patience.
You are going to determine how you want to shape your wig. In the first picture you can see how I’ve glued layers of Insulation foam board together. First as a square using wood glue. Let this dry fully before you begin to carve into it. Shape it and sand it till it looks good. I started to scoop out the side that would be against my head early. Remember to take into account your head shape and any hair that might be under a wig cap. Once you get it to a shape that you like paint it as close a color as your wig just in case it shows through! I also edge mine with pink felt so that I could sew some wefts to it.
Now the fun part! You dont want to trap all those wefts under your foam board because you’ll be gluing them to it. So you need to seam rip or take all the wefts on the back of the wig off. Que up some movies, shows, put on some music and get into the zone because it takes a bit. Once you have the back open you will need to attack the nicely shaped foam board block that will be the base of your wig. Like I said I glued (hot glued) felt to the base of the foam board which allowed me to sew it onto the straps that the wefts are held to. Its going to be a little unstable but once you start gluing your wefts to it then it will stabilize. While you are at it seal the inside of the foam board that will be closest to your scalp just in case. I used regular modge podge.
Now start sewing or gluing your wefts back on to the wig/foam board. I sewed half and glued the rest. Make a clear distinction on what section you want as the bangs, the sides, and what will be swept up towards the back. I hot glued some of the first layer as it was quick but then I took in sections and used watered down fabric glue to paint a section, saturate it and then glue it to the foam board. Having a hair drying nearby will speed up the process. But dont get it too hot. Its a slow process but it will work! You have to be patient.
If you have any questions let me know! I know its not the best explication but Im here to answer any questions. It might take me a bit.
