I'm tired of all the nude modeling hate, respect other people.
*Warning rant post incoming* There is something that has been bothering me for a long time and I think now is the time I speak up about it, because recently its gotten worse. Frequently this week I've been seeing hate in many places online and even in person about girls (and guys) that choose to do nude modeling work especially involving cosplay. Common insults like "cheap","whore", "easy money", "sellout","just porn", "not talented" etc. I'm going to take a second to just let you all know, for me at least and I'm sure others can relate... being a nude model IS NOT EASY. From the moment I decided I was going to do nude modeling, I knew I would be put under tons of peoples judging stares, and its never been lacking. Though for anyone that claims that nude modeling is easy I chuckle to myself. I've honestly lost count of the amount of times I've spent hundreds of dollars venturing into hostile and unfriendly territory to simply get a few photos let alone shoot for the 4-8 hours that a typical photo set requires. Let alone how many times I've combated weather, avoided people, been eaten up by bugs, ruined a costume after a shoot, endured the heat of the sun for 8+ hours, lugged heavy equipment/props, hiked mountains, traversed life threatening and dangerous areas, and worked under severe time constraints. All for the love of actually having a fitting set for my character. I'm constantly putting myself in extreme circumstances and literally giving my work every ounce of effort I can muster. Some see this as crazy, but I see it as living my life to the fullest and doing what I love. I've lost close friends over what I do, and I still keep pushing forward because I tend to be stubborn, but its not been a walk in the park by no means. I don't like getting into the negatives and the problems I have to face when planning out my shoots, but I just wanted to say for anyone out there that can relate its not always easy.
If I were truly going to just view this as porn, I would shoot it in a basement and not give a fuck about the minuscule details, but I do care, and for me this is an art-form. Though I will admit it is also something that harnesses sexuality and connects to it, but to me it is a key element to human culture and not something for people to frown upon. Billions of people indulge this very thing whether they want to believe it or not. I want everyone to see the end result and not the struggles it took to get there, but right now I feel some insight is necessary. Also, posing in the nude is a whole different animal then traditional modeling, where becoming intimately familiar with your own body type is far more critical. These are just my experiences, everyone is different. Not everyone is going to agree and I understand that. I'm not trying to completely change people that don't want to do it or deal with its problems. Though I am trying to bring light to something that is often overlooked because of the nature of nudity and how people view it, to let people know its not all "butterflies and daises" .
It can have its ups and downs like any other type of job. People have the right to their opinion and what they want to do with themselves, though to go out of your way and condemn others is just a sad waste of your time. Why make an effort to put a damper on their efforts? Do you like it when someone does it to you? The answer is no.
Stay classy people.
