Violet finds out about COVID

“We have to cancel your play date today, my love. I’m sorry.” Harry pouts, clinging to Violet while he tries to comfort the girl. Ever since the pandemic hit they have been trying to limit the amount of people they see even more. They don’t see people much due to their introverted kind of life but they stopped selling at the farmers market and stopped seeing anyone who wasn’t family.
That takes us to today. Violet was supposed to have a play date with Y/n’s good friend's daughter. Her name is Maisey, she’s always been a good friend to Violet, especially since her mom and y/n carried at the same time. They haven't tried to explain COVID to their two year that much, mainly because she can’t really understand it. She’s just doing what her parents tell her- washing her hands constantly, and wearing her little duck printed mask whenever she has to go out, which isn’t often.
They are thankful that they don’t go out much anyways, it wasn’t hard for them to adapt to the “COVID life”. “I can’t see Maisey?” Violet asks, her small pink bottom lip poking out in a baby-ish pout. Harry nods, rubbing her small shoulder.
“Can’t see Maisey because we don’t want to get sick, honey”
Violet turns her eyes to Y/n, looking for her to deny her daddy’s statement but all she gets is a disappointed nod. “Not fair!” She says, stomping her chubby foot on the ground. The parents sigh, they know that even though they are all used to being home more than they are used to getting out it is still rough. Their little ones don’t like wearing masks and they miss seeing their family, but it seems like they are just seeing them less and less.
“Hey, sh, everything is gonna be okay, my love. How about we just do some arts n’ crafts today?” Harry knows the little girl loves to paint, she digs her chubby hands into the brightly colored finger paint and slaps them all over the blank canvas until it’s colorful and there isn’t a spot that’s missing paint.
Violet nods, still keeping a sad look on her face but her and her parents both know that she is excited to spend a day digging in her little craft box, gluing and taping things on random papers to give to the other three people in the house until she’s out of supplies and her daddy has to go down to the Knickknack shop to get more brightly colored construction paper for her to play with..
“We’re gonna have a fun day, baby. Don’t worry.” y/n hums, pulling out the big craft box.

“Here, it’s done.” Y/n’s says, pulling the very last set of pajamas off of her sewing machine. Harry smiles down at his wife. “Just in time. They look perfect, m’ love.” Harry holds lavender in his arms, wrapped up in a towel, she was fresh out of the bath.
“I hope they like them” Y/n smiles, collecting the matching footie pajamas and walking up the stairs of the cottage, ready to dress her little ones for bed.
Harry dresses lavender and y/n dresses Violet and Forest, gathering them all in Harry and y/n’s shared bedroom for a bed time story. “Ah! It says my name!” Violet squeals, pointing to her name stitched in purple at the top of her chest, off to the right side.
“Yours too, Forest!” She says, pointing to his name, making the little boy squeal and jump a bit even though he was confused. “And lavender too!” Violet says, getting impossibly more excited.
“Yeah, mama made ‘em for you, love bug.” Harry smiles, kissing her cheek. Violet looks up at her mama, a big smile of her face. “Thank you mama!”
