History/Origin: The initial introduction go the photograph was in 1839. Therefore 1839 is considered the birth year of practical photography. 

Why?/Purpose: Joseph Nicéphore (1765-1838) took the first photo. It took eight hours of exposure to light. It was created to revolutionize culture and communication in the west forever.
