“ here, sweetie-- i found another book in one of the bedrooms i think you might like. ” anything to keep her mind preoccupied and away from any lurking dangers.

“It's not a bite. You can check if you want.”
Hell of a greeting—but she figured she would need to get that out of the way. Approaching a stranger, holding the side of her arm like she was, Brody figured that would be one of the first things she would have to answer. She eyed the woman somewhat, but she really was in no place to be suspicious. The injury wasn't BAD, but any infection could be WORSE.
“I'm just lookin' for somethin' to treat it...”
- Wrapped up too tightly in a ratty old blanket with his nose all red and and a permanent scowl on his face, Nick can only imagine how childish he must look in this very moment. It’s just his luck that he’s somehow managed to catch a flu right in the middle of summer, and the thankfulness he’d previously felt for Sarah’s offering to take care of him effectively flies out the window as she presents him with the grotesque substance.
As stubborn as always, he doesn’t give in so easily. He glares at the plastic spoon as if it’s personally insulted him, tugging the blanket impossibly tighter around his feverish body.
“How old is that stuff, anyway?” he questions, his voice nasally and raspy, an obvious attempt at stalling. “Medicine has expiry dates, right? It probably won’t even work anymore.”

“Go back to sleep, kid.”
The time; unknown. But it’s too early but also too late, Ally has no idea why Sarah had woken up suddenly, but the young need more rest. They stay silent for a while, staring at the outdoors as if it was nearly entertaining. Pondering.
“...Bad dream or something?”
sarita had never had any children of her own, no time seemed right to have any before the apocalypse, and NOW she especially didn’t see herself having any. the most experience she’d had with children were her younger siblings, and with how much their parents worked when they were younger, she might as well had raised them. still, she hadn’t had the pleasure of running into any kids with the way the world was now, but it warmed her heart to see sarah and just how EXCITABLE the young girl had gotten when she’d spotted the christmas tree. it was nice to still witness such an innocence.
“ what was your FAVORITE thing to do on christmas? ” sarita asked, placing another bulb on the tree, genuinely interested. “ even though i never celebrated it, when my family and i moved here to the states i used to LOVE playing in the snow around this time of year. ” the cold had taken some getting used to, of course, but sarita had always liked the look of snow. // @couldntfindanybullets liked for a starter !

“Hey, Sarah--!” Auren calls out to the girl, running to her side as the group continued in the snow. They were on a supply run, and concluded it’d be safer to travel in a group. Besides, the house was colder now that winter was creeping up on them. She swore she’d seen snow falling just before the sun broke that morning.
“I saw you had a camera back at the camp, and well- Sarg and I found you something when we were out last week.” She’d already tugged her bag in front of her, rummaging for a bit before producing three packs of undeveloped Polaroids. “I think it’s ten to a pack, so- thirty more pictures sounds fun, right?”
