Ring in the New Year with these delightful clock-shaped cookies that are as fun to make as they are to eat. Decorate them with royal icing to resemble countdown clocks and celebrate the arrival of the new year in style!
Ingredients: 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour. 1 teaspoon baking powder. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Royal icing black, white, and assorted colors.
Instructions: Mix flour, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl with a whisk. In a different large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until they are fluffy and light. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix them in well. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients one at a time until the dough comes together. Make two equal pieces of dough, flatten them into discs, wrap them in plastic wrap, and put them in the fridge for at least an hour. Warm the oven up to 350F 175C and put parchment paper on baking sheets. On a floured surface, roll out one piece of dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Cut out clock shapes with cookie cutters that look like clocks and put them on baking sheets that have been prepared. For 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden. After baking, let the cookies cool for a few minutes on the baking sheets. Then, move them to a wire rack to cool completely. Follow the directions on the package to make the royal icing. Then, divide it into black, white, and different colored parts. With the black royal icing, pipe clock numbers and hands onto the cookies once they are completely cool. This will make them look like clocks. Let the black icing dry for a few minutes before adding more details and decorations with white and other colors. Before you serve the cookies or put them away in an airtight container, let the royal icing fully set. These Clock Cookies for New Year's Eve are ready to be eaten at your party!
