River
Full Name: Questing River
(Names are translations of the original language version into Basic)
Pronouns: He/They
Society/ Affiliation: The Commune
Species: Genetically Engineered Insectoid/Mammal hybrid referred to as the Gifted of the Will by the Commune***.
Genetics involved with the Gifted: Several native insectoids of the commune that include some extinct sub-species DNA, Chiss, two human sub-species, an unknown amphibian species, and an unknown humanoid species.
Age: 73 (adult), appears: mid to late 30s.
NOTE: Will explain in history, but when he was unable to complete the full metamorphosis into male, he opted for the anti-aging treatment to prolong & extend their Force abilities.
***Twitter poll result for appearance: Colorful Gay Elf
Caste, Sub-Caste, & Focii: Guardian, Greater Navigator, Senior Command Officer
Imperial/Republic Equivalents:
Guardian = Defence Force / Military
Greater Navigator = Includes: Pathfinding/ Sky-Walker Force-based Intergalactic Piloting & Navigation, Piloting, Defense (including Force-Based), and Combat Tactics
Focii: Anywhere from Captain to Lt. Commander. Greater Navigator is a unique position as it can have the authority of Commander, but regardless of how many or what rank they are, the Greater Navigators will defer to the non Navigator bridge Commander unless otherwise directed by their mission or the Force (see next paragraph).
The Commune's unique military command facet: Greater Navigators and Greater Seers *are* permitted to countermand any senior officer's or commander's orders if and only if for the sake of preserving life in any situation that they feel the Force has given them insight.
In this system Tarkin's command would come before a Sith's command and not the other way around. Just like Leia, as a General, would be followed first in their system, until the "Jedi" state that there's another way they *have* to do it to prevent / minimize loss of life or for the success of the mission.
Welcome to the non Hetero-normative sexuality & identity section:

Weapon Systems: Warships, Scouts, Planetary Defense
NOTE: All the species in The Commune focus on their Castes & Sub-Castes. They're all one trick-pony types unless their sub-caste allows for cross-caste skills & interactions
Empathy (reception & projection)
Navigational Foresight/ Projection (Just like Pathfinders/ Sky-Walkers)
Combat Foresight (Like navigation but utilized for combat)
Shield Casting (Ship sized Static Barrier)
Cloaking (Ship sized Force Cloak)
NOTE ABOUT FORCE USE:
Using a Force-imbued weapon and using it to extensively enhance combat skills for the purpose of warfare is anathema to them. It's a cultural taboo that they do everything to avoid it. Primary reasons why: 1) they associate it with their former oppressors, 2) It's a trait of highly aggressive predators on their world & is considered a 'lesser' ability & a sign of physical weakness to need to use it for combat
Skills / Hobbies / Interests
Singing, Charbroiling/ Grilling Meat, Textile / Loom Weaving, Martial Arts, Fables/ Folklore, Group Board/ Card Games, trying to annoy the Great Mother's recent hatchlings by playing pranks on them
Energetic, Acute, Empathetic, Diligent, Ardent, Assertive, Sharp (in more ways than one), Compassionate
Will describe in more detail through their history. They are always wanting to be sympathetic and kind, however they have always had strong emotions that led to strong opinions. The inability of their own science to correct many of the lingering medical problems faced by the hybridized races created by their former oppressors [Rakata for SWTOR, unknown species or n/a in Galactic Republic/Empire SW eras], drove River to becoming a kind of reformist among the Commune. While they aren't alone, they often ended up in a position of authority that changed how they would interact with other races because of being a Navigator. As a result they became increasing opinionated and assertive to defend themselves and to perform their duties as a Greater Navigator. Deep down they still care, want to help, and can't stop trying to take the lead & direct despite not being a part of the Command Sub-Caste.
They are mostly humanoid, standing approx 1.8m / 6' tall. Though they are less broad in the shoulders and have a more androgynous physical build compared to slightly dimorphic mammals. Their body might be mistaken in proportions for being an adolescent of their species, their mannerisms & face are not.
River has some insectoid affects, from scaled skin, several antennae (double set, one primary, one lesser, though the Gifted often have three sets), and insectoid jointed feet and hands. They have the thick/ bristly swept back hair that is mane-like and common among their species, that can't grow much beyond the shoulders. Their ears are somewhat like a combination between a deer's and an elf, sitting at the typical height on the sides of the head, like a human's. Yet they can pivot to an extent and be used to show emotion or communicate generalized feelings.
River's eyes are mammalian (human-like), instead of compound like an insects.
Their coloration is the most distinctive, even among their own species. A majority of their head aside from spotting is an iridescent black with a violet-green sheen (due to the scales), that stops right around the lower jaw. Their natural 'insectoid' color of a deep green and green & gold combination starts from there onward toward the limbs. Then the majority of the limbs are also the same black. Their patterning (spotting) is a white or pale gold. Mostly on the back of the arms and legs, and on the forehead & crown. Hair is pigmented according to the skin pigment so River's does have some white 'and pale gold streaks, if the hair is growing out of the spotted pattern along their scalp.
It is clear that River is physically fit, as scales are fine enough to barely be noticeable the further away one gets, so that even the muscle tone underneath shows with light & shadow much like any human (or especially due to the iridescent black).
History (Includes Species Information)
River remembers almost as far back as when he came out of the ovum pods (i.e. a kind of organ-pod that serves as an egg chamber without actually being an egg) that are part of the inherent biology of the Great Mother. He was tested for force-sensitivity and immediately placed into the Guardian-Caste. While normally the force-sensitive do get a choice, because of the nature of their abilities, trainers from the Guardian-Caste are the best for bringing out some of the natural talents. In their society there is a strong push for those of River's species to fill in the military niche that includes defensive abilities, like the great telekinetic and cloaking shields that protect and hide their civilizations (especially the Great Mothers), and their best warships that protect the world from outside intruders.
River himself/themself (he's a bit genderfluid) was never fully at peace with the idea of being told that his abilities had only certain uses and those were the only uses. He had hoped to become a reproductive member of society after his adult metamorphosis, but that failed. Only about 25% can make the final full metamorphosis and develop the necessary reproductive organs. This is due to an intentional genetic flaw created by their oppressors that they have yet to un-do because they lack the source of genetic material used to identify why hormone treatments are met with counter hormonal activity, or fail to properly activate/stimulate development, or create additional problems that cause the process to need to be amended to prevent cancer or other disorders from manifesting during the final metamorphic stage.
While he excelled in all of his classes as a Guardian and demonstrated a great potentional, he was also always anti-authoritarian in a way because he constantly challenged and questioned the existing system. He's inherently curious and hoped through contributing his own genetic material to the future generations that perhaps his people could find more answers, because he was one of the rare few that had the possibility of being intersex, which in itself indicated external species DNA that wasn't part of the indigenous insectoid population. Being a bit of a 'genetic freak' even to his own people only caused them to strive to see the problems and be aware of both the good and the bad of everything around them.
Needless to say that he's always been a trouble causer, that liked to be adventurous. He first learned the hard way. So for awhile he was the typical rebellious type.
That's until he actually became a Navigator.

-- Just so you can see. I'm still working on his. It's a huge bio to post. -_- Since he's meant to be on part with a Jedi Master / Sith Lord
