I know not everyone is a Douglas Coupland fan. But I am. I remember looking at this online a few years ago. I was enthralled with his “Slogans for the Twenty-First Century.” So obviously, I was quite excited to see Douglas Coupland: everywhere is anywhere is anything is everything at the ROM in Toronto (we also saw Jean-Michel Basquiat: Now's the Time at the AGO on the same day - this is also amazing).
So, this 21st century life that we’re all living - as a Millennial (or whatever you want to call me) who works in eLearning this is feeling so intrinsic to who I am - both work me and personal me.
Coupland’s work encapsulates what many feel and provides an approachable and engaging opportunity to start conversations about our digital selves and what it means to live in a world of constantly evolving online spaces.
I think that this also leads nicely into that blending of what we do face-to-face with our students and how we serve them online. I’m currently a member of a project team exploring options for our Virtual Learning Commons, so all of this seems to come full circle. We cannot not separate ourselves, so we shouldn't be trying to separate our services, a holistic approach and understanding is a key component of success.
