You know, growing up in and around homes that had that one area that always smelled “weird” used to make me uneasy being around them, just knowing I wasn’t in the loop with something and sensing a sort of “power” (And at the time it wasn’t legal, and an adult thing, and a secret.)

Now that I recognize the smell as marijuana I can’t help but feel a sense of peace in these places. People’s smoking spots are often “safe spaces”. Somewhere they can go to unwind and escape. I can’t help but feel a certain protection being in them. A natural conglomerate of energies mostly focused on moving past the bad and accepting the good. Then again it’s likely all just association that when I smoke weed I feel more in control of my anxiety, and pain, so I feel safer. Still there’s no denying the magic of these hidden havens 🤔
