I would deffo be interested in learning from you however, I have 0 original ideas and all I write is fanfic 😅
Thank you very much for the feedback, but I want to address your point because it’s something that I see sort of often online, and it always makes me sad lol
There is no such thing as an original idea, and there is nothing un-original about fanfic!
The only things that canon provides are a pre-existing set of rules for the world the story takes place in, and pre-existing characters. What you do with them (how you manipulate them, break those rules, develop those characters) is absolutely valid original writing. The moment you stray from “canon” you are putting your own rules in place, and that’s something to be proud of!
Every AU is an original story! You may be applying pre-existing characters, but you’re putting your own spin on how those characters would behave, what they would say, how they’d interact with one another, etc. Yes you can take cues and notes from their personalities within their own canon world, but the way that you interpret them is wholly your own.
Even canon-divergent, or canon-compliant fics have their own uniqueness because every single person is different, and comes from a different perspective. The exact same characters can be written a million different ways by a million different people and by virtue of being written by different people they will all have their own original voice or approach.
You have original ideas! I promise you, you do. And fanfic is just as valid of a means of telling those ideas as non-transformative fiction.
In any case, the things I’ll be talking about in the course can be applied to any type of creative writing, fanfic included :)
