During the Corona time, I have been hearing the word “Normalität” almost daily in the news: the eagerness to return to “normality.” The following poem is a small glimpse of my normality.

Inky Lee’s poem “Normality” gives a sense of the “normalities” of being Korean in Germany (and being seen as Asian) at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The poem responds to omnipresent and interpenetrative xenophobia, racism, and misogyny, but Lee insists on the reality of living, including pain and the deep study of languages.
