Sewing is messy. Scrap fabric sheds; threads materialize everywhere: pins disappear in the carpet (ouch! 😫). I’ve always admired photos of sewing studios that show off only the best of what the space has to offer, but part of me wonders how much they ever use it, because it stays SO. DARN. CLEAN!! Needless to say, I’m a bit jealous. But sewing isn’t all about glamor and perfection. Sometimes it’s about mistakes and half-finished projects and making a mess. While it’s beautiful to show off work that looks like perfection, I find I’m most satisfied when I walk out covered in fuzz and threads, leaving behind a room that looked like a mini tornado swept through it.
