hi I'm trying to get into gifmaking and I'm just wondering.... how?? all of the sites I've looked at make gifs of pretty low quality and any free screen recording software is also very low quality so I'm just wondering if you have any tips? thanks a bunch <3

Hi and welcome to the wonderful and frustrating world of gif making! LOL :) 

Some of the free online gif makers do not offer the best quality and are frustrating to use at best. Gif Soup is probably the best and simplest I have been able to find although the free version comes with their logo on all of your gifs. It simple to use, just copy/past the YT URL you want to use. If you are willing, you can pay a fee of $5 a month to make gifs without the logo. When using gifsoup it can sometimes be hard to capture exactly the frames you would like but you can transfer the gif to Lunapic and use the gif editor (under the animation heading) to remove unwanted caps from your gif.

 I can tell you how I do it as most all I use is free or low cost. I use Realplayer or KeepVid to capture videos from YT and websites to use for gif making, both are free. I use KM player for playback and continuous screen capture to create a folder of caps to use for a gif, it’s also very easy to use and free as well. Photoshop works the best for gif making but is also very expensive. Back in the day when I was first learning to make gifs I would use Free Video Converter to edit and create gifs.

I was lucky and when Adobe was giving away free downloads of old Photoshop programs a few years back I was able to snag one before they rescinded the offer. You can find older software for Photoshop on Amazon and Ebay for a fraction of the original price but it still costs a bit. I have Photoshop 2 with Image Ready, although it is older software if gets the job done for what I need.

I use my Photoshop or Free Online Image Editor for adding text and my watermark as well as cropping and resizing.

Okay, I know this is probably a really stupid question, but I like being REALLY sure about things before I do them! I'm definitely going to donate for the Random Actapocalypse. So if I donate on this blog, that money is all going straight to Random Acts, right? So so sorry if that seemed really dumb. It’s not a stupid question whatsoever I promise! I would double and triple check too. :) The donation button that is on this blog goes straight to the paypal account that is connected with a bank account that I set up specifically for this event.
