Jihoon positioned himself between S. Coups and the other pirates. He shoved a finger at the pirate, “You’re not done ‘till I say so. Now get to it before I tear out your tongue and feed it to the sharks.”
The man didn’t move.
“Well? Should I go get the chum bucket?”
Excerpt 2:
“I found this. I can deal with it.”
Jihoon had put the emphasis on ‘I.’
Jun just stared at him, mouth open. He had no idea what to respond with, so he kept staring at Jihoon as if waiting for him to take it back. When it became obvious he would not, Jun whisper-yelled at his first mate, “I’m the captain!”
“And you said that I’ll find the person who’s doing all of this. I can do it.” Jihoon stared right back at him unapologetically. He crossed his arms. “Just let me do this.”
Hello lovelies,
School has been hectic and so has my writing but I’m back with the latest chapter of CoYH at https://archiveofourown.org/works/11148597/chapters/37422308#workskin ^_^ Check it out and lmk what you think!
Indie-pop newcomers flor, a four-piece hailing from Oregon, are bringing a new wave of the genre to the forefront.
The Fueled By Ramen-signed band, consisting of vocalist/guitarist Zach Grace, guitarist McKinley Kitts, bassist Dylan Bauld, and drummer Kyle Hill, just celebrated the one-year anniversary of their debut LP, come out. you’re hiding (often stylized as co.yh).
co.yh has a magic to it that can only be compared to the glow of fireflies in a jar or the bliss of a toasty, sun-bleached spring afternoon. If you’re going to talk about music with mood, co.yh deserves a few accolades. The 13 songs on this record are drizzled with an ambiance and distinguished warmth akin to LANY or Fickle Friends, but these are meager comparisons considering the distinction flor has. Grace’s dulcet vocal tones are unmatched – he simultaneously sounds quiet yet commanding, almost angelic in tracks such as “guarded,” “warm blood,” and “restless soul.” He by no means carries the band, though. As mentioned above, there’s a pleasant warmth in flor’s music, a result of upbeat melodies dressed up in dreamy production and soundscape-esque synthesized sections. “warm blood,” the best on the album and arguably one of 2017’s best songs in general (yes, you read that right), hits the ears like the high of a drug, sort of washing over you with its full-bodied atmosphere. But the album is just knock-out after knock-out: “restless soul” is rollicking, gentle, and acoustic, “heart” is a big hook, and “spoiled” goes in an experimental direction that nevertheless retains the band’s character.
A handful of co.yh’s songs started off on the band’s 2015 EP, sights & sounds, so co.yh is just a progression of what they had, which is good considering how well it works. flor is easily one of Fueled By Ramen’s golden eggs, even if they’re relatively new to the scene and still gaining traction.
If their recent tour with Misterwives is any indication, they’ll be gaining some renown. They were a good mix for the beach/pop-rock headliner. Their set ran through more than half of co.yh, with some creative re-arrangements of some of the songs. Impressively, the dreamy cadence found on the record didn’t falter in a live setting. Grace sounded phenomenal, and the neo-neon aesthetic that the band has cultivated is present on stage, with lots of pinks and blues bleeding into the air. While vibrancy and bright colors is sort of a trend in indie/pop right now, there’s an element of ease to the style flor has chosen that feels relaxing – this is easy listening music, but it’s also chicken soup for the soul.
flor recently announced a vinyl pressing of co.yh for the album’s first anniversary. See the details and more about the band here.

i always look for other forms of art to inspire the art i make. i first heard this song around 2 years ago and had always been smitten by it; it’s one of those songs you can’t help but see visions of. now flor’s finally got their album out and the song’s better than ever. if you need a pick-me-up, i do suggest you listen.
“Can’t remember anything before today, huh? You lot got no more brain than a sea turtle, and at least they live longer. New question. Whose is this?”
No hands went up.
The first mate tried again, “Whoever owns an axe is innocent. Whose is this?”
More than half the hands went up.
Excerpt 2:
Jun’s quarters mirrored that darkness. All lights had been extinguished, and the shadow that would have otherwise been visible next to the window was invisible under the cloak of the night. Minghao was pacing as close to the glass as he could, muttering under his breath for either Vernon or Seungkwan to hurry the hell up and come back up for deck duty.
Hand gripping his pendant, the lie he told the captain echoed in his head.
Hello lovelies,

I’m finally back with a new chapter for CoYH ^_^ Check it out at https://archiveofourown.org/works/11148597/chapters/35852250
It’s been quite a while (like a year Im so sorry) but I hope it’s worth the wait. I do have the rest of the story mostly planned out and some written so fingers crossed for regularish updates the rest of this summer. Thanks again for all of your support so far, especially returning readers. It means a lot <3
~Castor
P.S. I’ve also updated the previous chapter so reread that before this one if you can :) plus I added an excerpt to ch5 if you want to go that far back for some lovestruck Junhui xD
Jihoon tapped his foot in irritation and resisted the temptation to tell the man that he had no more brains than a sea turtle. It would be an insult to the turtle. “Serious means man overboard, ship on fire, masts have fallen, another ship is spotted, a monster appears, you see a ghost, or Neptune himself comes to smite us-”
He rolled his eyes at the pirate’s gaping mouth. “I’m joking. You have a head, don’t you? Learn to use it.”
Excerpt 2:
Ignoring the shock on the crew’s faces, Jun strode forward as the crowd parted in front of him.
The first thing he saw was the broken wood board. Two of them. The one that had broken underneath the pirate and the one strewn to the side. Then the blood.
“Jihoon, what happened here?” He asked softly, almost a whisper.
Hello lovely readers,
I’m back with the newest update to CoYH at https://archiveofourown.org/works/11148597/chapters/36430374 :) Lmk what you think
The first mate had already been in a bad mood after his fruitless chase around port, and the stagnant air only made it worse. Pacing up and down the wooden planks, it seemed to him like everyone had conveniently chosen this day to forget how to sail a ship.
“What are you? A fish?” Jihoon glared at one of the pirates, currently not coiling the ropes as he should be. “What’s so nice about the sky, huh? Close your goddamn mouth and stop staring, or I’ll close it for you-” he added with a snarl, “permanently.

School has taken up more time than I originally thought it would. Don't worry, I will definitely continue with Captain of Your Heart, but updates will be much slower than before. Thank you all for your support <3 and here's a little something Pollux made for the fic and to celebrate Junhao's MV ^_^
