EVENT: TRUTH OR SCARE | THE FINAL REVEAL
The Castle House Great Room sits at the center of the house, the large first floor room that served as the premiere space for entertaining. A fitting place to end the scavenger hunt. In the center of the well-lit room sits a small Bluetooth speaker atop a tiny table. The silence is almost eerie, tension heightened by the creaks and groans of feet shuffling against the old hardwood as the pairs make their way into the room from the various entrances and side doors.
The quiet lingers for a few more torturous beats until the speaker comes alive, blue light blinking on and the sound of a voice, clear, deep, and distinctly masculine begins to speak.
“Congratulations. If you’re listening to this, then you’ve found the clues and reached the end of the hunt. Every game has its winners, and this one is no different. But unfortunately for you, only winner in this game is Truth.
What’s hidden always has a way of coming to the surface. Whether it’s SANTANA getting busted for prostitution and having the mugshot and criminal record to prove it, or RYDER having his father bribe the school board to change his grades.
Was it just for football, or maybe to hide the fact that Castleport’s golden boy is a complete fraud? That’s F-R-A-U-D, Ryder. Sound it out.
And MERCEDES, daughter of Castleport High’s esteemed principal. The same ‘PAL’ who abused her position of power to bump her daughter’s GPA a few points higher. Was art school really that challenging, you needed the help?
And speaking of taking advantage of their positions, Detective FINN, bound by duty to protect and serve, but uses his badge and central booking to let criminals go free. How many licks to Detective Finn’s stick does it take for him to turn his head when you’ve been a very, bad, criminal? Hm, maybe we should ask his ex. What would Castleport PD say about their newest, shiniest recruit if they knew he slept with a perp that was actively messing with evidence in one of their cases?
But he’s not the only one, sleeping on the job. Or rather, for a job. Who can forget SUGAR, spreading her legs on a casting couch for a low-level director. How’d that ‘big break’ work out? It’s no wonder BREE is your good friend, she’d know all about posing naked for profit and attention and has the pictures to prove it.
Newsflash, you can hide but Google always finds out. Isn’t that right JAKE? Or should I say, Levi Asher. Amazing, the things people will do on camera when they’re broke and pretty.
And for others, they just can’t help themselves. They can’t fight their nature in being a total failure. HUNTER knows all about shaming the family name. Getting kicked out of West Point for drug abuse and a Courtney Love-level drinking problem would certainly disappoint Daddy Dearest. But you know what they say about old habits.
It’s fitting then, that he and TINA are so well matched. Imagine thinking you have the talent for being a top chef, only to end up right back in the same town, at the same diner, being the same loser you were in high school. It would certainly make anyone resentful, even someone as fake and spineless as Tina. Wonder what your family would say if they discover your dutiful daughter act was a lie.
SAM knows all about lies. The nice guy act is so tired. What will people think when they find out that Sam had a wife he practically abandoned after barely a year together? For better or for worse, isn’t that right, Sam?
NOAH, the once great King of Castleport, now just a washed-up has been with a hammer and a serious gambling addiction. So sad when people are past their prime and way over their heads.
And who can forget QUINN. Snobby and self-righteous as always. Congrats Quinn, you bounced back from the momentary lapse of judgment with that accidental pregnancy and climbed right back on that high horse, thanks to those kind doctors at Planned Parenthood.
It’s so easy to judge others when your own dirt is hidden.
Well now none of you have to worry about that. It’s all out in the open.
And there’s more where that came from.
The recording stops and the speaker shuts off, the lights flickering ominously as the room returns to silence.
