ClubRust 2019 - June 25-30
64 volunteers, with our local friends, built 3 homes and 3 latrines in the village of Colinas del Florido. We recently got back from visiting our "hill", and are happy to report that all 3 families are settled into their new homes.

ClubRust has been building homes for 22 years - The last 13 years (54 homes and latrines) were built on "the hill" at Colinas del Florido (above). ClubRust announced last June that we will no longer be building homes for individual familes (Unless the community petitions us to build one that they identify). We will now be focusing on coming alongside their existing leadership and community, and empowering and developing the whole of the community instead.
Here's what's been happening in the 3 months since our June trip: The Ranch has had an intern for 6 weeks now. She lives full time at the Ranch, and is "embedding" with several of the Ranch's partner churches and communites to get to know them better, and to investigate how to move forward in these communities. We have learned so much!
We've identified existing committees, their leaders and ministries in the colonias and elsewhere that they are engaging in. We are learning about the issues and obstacles that need to be addressed as we move forward with "helping without hurting".
All this to say that we are at the beginning of a LONG adventure with this community. There are some preliminary projects that are being discussed, but nothing concrete as of yet. We will keep you all posted.
