Albert knew this day would come as soon as the time allowed, monarchs and nobles alike scrambling over one another to be at the next dinner or ball to speak in private. Countries, while not at war, were expediting their efforts to secure alliances for the betterment of their people and the monarchy upon which they stood. Battle lines were being drawn and those that had the means to align with another were rapidly seeking to draw concrete plans for future endeavors. Ever since his first talk with Alexandrina, Princess of Viana, he had counted down the days until the Portugese monarchs would seek him out. Her letter had arrived by a page finding him by the stables and he scarcely had enough time to freshen up and change before joining the Queen of Portugal at her estate.
The provided estate is elaborately decorated, a mix of both Portguese decorations and Florentine architecture. He pauses for a moment to soak in the sight before continuing on, following the guards provided to join the Queen in her drawing room. They announce his presence as he steps through the doors and he bows deeply to her, offering a smile as a gesture of goodwill. “Apologies for my tardiness, Your Majesty. I thank you for your invitation and hospitality, though one has to wonder whether this is purely a social call.”
