Sitting on the banks of the Moon River, the bottle tree is traditional in the Gullah culture of the Southeast coast of the USA.  It is said that attractive blue bottles lure in evil spirits during the night and trap them.  As the sun rises the trapped spirits disappears forever taking with then bad luck, bad dreams and any spells that may have been placed on one.

And for many others “blue” is a favorite color for decorating and ornaments because of its calming effect.
