hear me out
with regards to the crabshipping stuff
something that bugged me the entire movie, was how maui stole the heart of te fiti, saying it was for the humans
the heart of te fiti is for creation, right? but humans already create. not just biologically, but he gave them the ‘breeze to shake the trees,’ which would aide in cultivation and help them with agriculture, another form of creation.
so why does he need it?
what if
he had an argument with tamatoa, that was the one that led to him breaking off his leg, and he felt really bad about it. so what better to make up for it, then to steal a really nice shiny thing that has other benefits? it does make a great necklace.
but he never gets to give it to him. tamatoa in the meanwhile, is still angry at maui, and he goes to claim the hook, because no one else should have it but him (in his mind), and it would also bring maui back to him. at first he would want to talk to him, but after a millennium of not talking to him, he just thinks more and more about their fight, and just gets angrier and angrier.
