“Right, so. The Crabstorm.
So it was a normal day in Scuttle Town. I was fighting off monsters near the fields, since, y’know, the guards were awful. I suddenly heard footsteps running up behind me, so I turned to see who it was.
Bolo was standing there, looking all beat up, and he goes, ‘Shantae. There are so many crabs. Please help.’
Now, those crab monsters - you guys know ‘em - they’re, like, the easiest monsters to fight, ever. So I was kind of annoyed that Bolo wanted me to go deal with it, but, y’know. I went to go look anyway. I asked him how the heck he got overwhelmed by crabs on the way over, and he just shook his head and said ‘no, you don’t understand, there are so many.’
So we get to the coast gate, and, uh... the whole beach was covered with crabs. We couldn’t even see the sand - it was seriously just all crabs! And Bolo’s just like ‘I told you there were lots of them,’ and so we started doing our best to get rid of them.
Even with both of us kicking crabs back into the ocean, it was taking a really long time to get rid of them. So Bolo decided to leave me to crab-punting while he went to go get Sky to help, too.
... now that I think about it, the Crabstorm is the whole reason crab-punting was even a thing with us. Anyway!
Bolo came back with Sky, and Sky, of course, had a bunch of birds. And she decided that rather than kicking the crabs one by one, she’d just use her birds to get rid of a lot of them at once. Now, I thought this meant that the birds would, you know, swoop down and carry them away. But instead, Bolo suggested that the birds more or less form a big old wind wall by flapping their wings to try and push all of the crabs to the ocean at once, and Sky decided that was at least worth trying, because, well, she has TONS of birds.
This... turned out to be a mistake.
Instead of pushing away all the crabs, we ended up with, uh... the best way to describe it would be a crab tornado. So now we were chasing a windy crab vortex all over the beach, and it was flinging crabs all over the place, which included sending crabs into town...
At that point, Sky realized the smarter thing to do would’ve just been to have the birds carry crabs away. So she had them catch as many crabs that flew out as she could, and me and Bolo ended up kicking the ones that got left behind into the ocean - or, up into the air for the birds.
And then we had to sweep through town finding crabs. I still don’t think we found all of them, there’s probably some lurking around to this day...
Anyways, that was the Crabstorm.”
