Be Careful with your LCD, LED & Plasma TV Screens
We get a few calls nearly every day in which someone tells a story that ends with their LCD/LED/Plasma TV screen being cracked and they'd like an estimate to replace it. Unfortunately we have to inform them that this is the one problem that is an uneconomical repair and that we cannot recommend it. We hate having to give this type of advice, however when a TV display panel has been cracked the costs associate with replacement part are so high that it just doesn't make sense. If the part price wasn't high enough (in some cases the part can be reasonable), most manufacturers add on a very high core charge which is lost when the customers panel is cracked. This can sometimes double the parts cost!
Most other repairs are very economical. TVs that won't turn on, have picture problems, shut off and have many other issues are repaired every day for a fraction of the cost of a new TV. Just be careful not to crack the display panel!
