Spalted Elder Wood Scepter (SOLD)

This unique scepter was crafted from a storm-blown bough of Elder, and it measures approximately 31 inches/ 79 centimeters long

The wood used came from an Elder Tree found growing in the crook of a forested Crossroads, which was ritually propitiated in the name of the Elder Mother. After collecting, de-barking, drying, and cutting down the piece, I carefully accentuated the natural 'bone-like' shape of the top with a blade and sandpaper, before sanding and polishing the whole surface until it was suitably smooth. After that, I slowly allowed the wood and inner pith of the stave to "soak up" a ritually crafted varnish made from an array of potent arboreal resins—such as Dragon's Blood, Storax, and Amber—which was then slowly dried by the hearth to strengthen the overall integrity of the piece. Once that process was done, I applied one last coat of the same varnish as before, which I polished with a homemade oil of sorcerous empowerment to give it a glossy sheen and to underscore the natural beauty of the wood spalting, before fumigating the finished scepter with a mixture of Elderflowers and Honey Amber in a simple rite of hallowing.

Buckthorn Crook Stave (SOLD)

"This listing is for a Crook-headed Stave that I crafted from Buckthorn, a resilient tree that is especially suited to workings of purification and the purging of unwanted forces. 

After harvesting, debarking, and curing the length of wood, I went about sanding and smoothing the entire piece, making sure to leave the specimen’s thorns in tact. Once I was satisfied with the texture of the wood, I then stained the entire piece using a pigment made from Yellow Ochre, before further sanding the stave to reveal a mottling of paler wood, and then finally applying another pigment made from Old Horseshoe Nails atop the last. When the color had fully set, I then polished the wood using my personallly devised Wisefool's Oil (an oil of empowerment that works splendidly as a wood conditioner,) and then sealed the piece against wear and moisture using multiple layers of my handmade Wisefool’s Glaze (a wood varnish composed from a variety of potent arboreal resins, such as Dragon’s Blood, Black Frankincense, and Storax.)

Finally, I took the stave to a crossroads beneath the light of a Full Moon and fumigated it with a mixture of St. John’s Wort, Vervain, and Tarragon. The resultant piece is a lovingly fashioned Craft implement that I believe will be a commendable tool in the hands of its future wielder.

Spiral-Turned Rosewood Cane (Sold)

This is a listing for a Rosewood Stave that I am currently selling. It was crafted from a spiraled pole of reclaimed Guibourtia wood which, though in rough shape, seemed beautiful enough, rare enough, and strong enough to be worth saving and giving new life.

After I got my hands on the wood, I proceeded to painstakingly reshape, sand, and polish the piece, into a wieldable cane with a glossy luster. Once that was done, I stained the wood using a highly concentrated Dragon’s Blood pigment, which I inherited from my mother many years ago, and then sealed it with my homemade Dragon’s Blood varnish, before fumigating it with a mixture of Rose Petals and Red Myrrh.

It is approximately 44”/111cm long, fairly lightweight, and capable of being used as a cane, a Craft stave, or both. Spiral-Turned Black Sandalwood Staff (Sold)

This listing is for a Black Sandalwood Stave that I’m currently selling, crafted from reclaimed wood of the Dalbergia Melanoxylon tree — known alternately as Blackwood, Black Rosewood, or African Ebony, amongst other names. A spiral-turned pole of it came into my possession not too long ago and, though originally scuffed, cracked, and adorned with a rough coat of flat black stain, I thought the wood was beautiful enough, rare enough, and strong enough to be worth saving and giving new life. After all, the wood itself is one of the absolute sturdiest on the planet, with a hardness of approximately 3600 lbf - 4050 lbf on the Janka Scale (for context, a hardwood such as White Oak has a comparative hardness of only about 13800 lbf.) As such, its strength has been celebrated for millennia and, in fact, many historians and anthropologists agree it was actually this tree that was regarded as ‘Ebony’ by much of the ancient world. As far as my own personal experience of handling the wood goes, I can say that it is truly a remarkable material, feeling more like stone than wood in some ways.

After I got my hands on the lathe-turned length of branch, I proceeded to reshape, sand, and polish it—a process which proved extremely painstaking, with how dense and strong the wood is, but which revealed a particularly lovely color and luster in the wood’s surface. Once that was done, I thoroughly condition the wood and accentuated its dark swirling grain using a sun-thickened form of my personally developed Wisefool’s Oil—for both the virtues of the mixture, as well as its wood-finishing properties. Finally, I lightly sealed the stave using a thin coating of my Dragon’s Blood Varnish, before fumigating it with a mixture of Sandalwood, Honeysuckle, and Dragon’s Blood.

It is approximately 50” long, very solid and hefty in the hand, and smooth to the touch. It has also been outfitted with a black rubber ferrule.
