I think it also comes from a problem with PB’s development in the series. She only (sometimes temporarily) learns a lesson on how not to be kind of a dick from people she likes or wants to like (Marcy and FP being the biggest examples). It ends up making it so that PB is just less of dick to people she likes while still treating those she doesn’t like pretty horribly and why she can either ignore or laugh at most other people pointing out her flaws, such as LG or some of her own citizens

like. yeah. when people who don’t like her point out her flaws they just get pushed away, like “if you don’t like me i guess it’s best if we stop interacting entirely” (i think tree trunks did it once ? in that one w the aliens? iirc pb ignored her until tt pointed out that she really was doing something bad, it wasn’t just private beef between tt and pb), but when people she respects try and say “hey youre being dumb” she tries to address that
