#Repost @agirlhasnopresident ・・・ Martin Luther King Junior is about more than posting an inspirational quote on the celebration of his birth. It’s certainly about more than posting an inspirational quote on the date of his death. He helped put us all on a path towards living the dream that he saw. A dream that we should’ve all seen, but we didn’t. That dream should be continuing after his death, but for a large part of America, it is not. Not only is it not continuing, there are people who go out of their way to make sure that it ends. When almost 65 years after the death of Emmett Till in Mississippi, you still have white kids standing there with guns in front of his bullet ridden memorial, we clearly still have a long way to go. So let’s celebrate Dr. king today and every day by continuing to push towards what he worked so hard for, and what he died for. Let’s start by acknowledging that we still have a problem in this country. That’s a start. We can to do that by calling out racism and equality when we see it, be it at work, be it in the streets, be it at our own dinner tables. Post a picture of Dr. King today. Post a quote from Dr. King today. But make sure when you’re doing those things that you’re also doing the work every day. I’m thankful that my babies get to grow up in a world post folks like Dr. King and John Lewis fought so hard and suffered so much, but their work isn’t done. It continues. Today is my daughter‘s birthday and I’m telling her more about Martin Luther King and what he did than one quote that he left for us. I’m telling her how she can continue to call out racism whenever she sees it and to stand up for people who aren’t capable of standing up for themselves. I’m telling her about his dream and how she can continue it. Are you continuing it? #MLK #MartinLutherKingJunior #CelebrateHisLife #ContinueHisWork #craigalanstudio https://www.instagram.com/p/B7jOeKWAT7q/?igshid=1fgf12nqsfm0g
I could stare at this for hours and discover a new character that makes me smile 😊
