a perilous patrol | edgar and andromeda
The downcast sky seemed to reflect the general mood of everyone in Edgar’s immediate vicinity. Rescue missions always carried a bit of tension, but the combination of Order and Aversio members only served to heighten it. Honestly, he wasn’t bothered about being left behind to do the more mundane work this time; at least he could escape from the stifling awkwardness. He wasn’t totally free, however, as a companion had been saddled upon him.
Not that Edgar bore Andromeda any ill will; he just preferred to be in his own company. That seemed to be a sentiment shared by few in such trying times, but he was used to being the odd one out by now. He offered the older woman a smile, small and slight in true Edgar fashion, and gestured to the door. “Shall we get started then?” He asked, resigned to the task at hand.
The ‘mission’ was sure to be tedious, but at least Edgar could enjoy the cool breeze brushing over his skin. He kept a steady pace, trying to stop his thoughts from straying, as well as stay in time with Andromeda’s steps. A stiff silence permeated the air and he was reluctant to break it, however his body apparently had other ideas. Edgar let out a huge sneeze, the sound echoing over the empty moorland, and the witch beside him burst out laughing. After a moment he joined her, the noises melding nicely together.
“So...” He started, forcing a more casual and lighthearted tone. “How is, um, how’s Ted?” The question was weak as, despite the tension having been diffused for the most part, Edgar had to grasp at straws for common ground. Andromeda was, in many ways, the complete opposite of him. He didn't know Ted well, but he’d always looked up to the older Hufflepuff and even a stilted conversation was better than the unpleasant nothingness of before.
