CRAWL (2019) dir. Alexandre Aja
Have you seen Crawl (2019)?
Yes
No
Haven’t even heard of this movie
─── CRAWL BANNERS.
Crawl (2019) is such a stressful movie but it is also a bastion of unintentional comedy because like. Holy shit these are the most aggressive alligators in existence. You start off with "a gator bit a man in his crawl space" and you're like yeah okay that could happen. Then another gator is there and they're both actively trying to hurt these people and like. Okay yeah they're in an enclosed space, it's presumably easy hunting, I guess they have no reason to leave (even though the prey is much too large and dangerous.) But then we get to "looters outside in the flooding all get actively hunted an eaten by gators, including climbing into their boat to get to them" and by then it's getting pretty silly. But "swarm of gators devour cop"? Funniest shit I've ever seen. Why are there so many? Why are they so gung ho for murder? Alligators said ACAB for real. It's a constant escalation to this perfect absurdist moment. Every time something happens in that movie I'm like ARE YOU FOR REAL. It slaps. I'm so glad that it didn't get more popular and accidentally repeat the Jaws phenomenon.

Crawl (2019)
I'm ready for a break from all this psychological horror. Just give me buckets of blood and jumpscares.
I'll have a Florida hurricane with extra gators on the side!
