You didn't even ask for a song from me but I was listening to Mr. Jones by the Counting Crows and it just felt like Johnny to me. The song is about how we all want to be famous and popular and beloved, and we're not actually sure why but maybe we think it will make us feel less lonely, and make us feel special. There irony of the song of course is that you don't feel any different. Having millions of people you will never meet love you does you no good, because they don't actually know you. Nobody does. Not even TMZ who won't let you drink yourself to numb the loneliness in peace
Unlike you, I'm no Johnny Cage scholar, but I feel like this song would give that sense of nostalgia, that maybe he was better off aspiring for greatness instead of reaching it, because what now?
“Imagine if, instead of the Moonstone, the landwalkers had given my people a powerful weapon to help destroy the creatures of the deep, but it had the soul of a long forgotten entity trapped within it that would take over its wielder...”
“Would that be messed up for what?”
