Selsera: Arius. We’ve finally arrived. This is the foremost city of Keter Sanctuary, the Floating Sky Island, Ketergia.

Arius: Amazing. . . This is all man-made, right?

Selsera: You always complain that we’re always in the countryside, so I brought you here. Be thankful.

Arius: Thank you very much! (She said it as harshly as always, but maybe this is Master’s way of being thoughtful. . .)

Selsera: Ketergia is a combination of nine floating islands. Each island regularly moves around, but they never crash into each other.

Arius: I’m a scientist, but the power to make all these huge islands float in the sky. . . it’s beyond my imagination.

Selsera: I feel the same, as a magician. Well, as expected of the holy kingdom known in ancient times as the United Sanctuary, it’s a grand structure combining the best of science and magic.

Arius: Oh, something flew across the sky just now. Maybe a bird?

Selsera: So you’ve seen them. That is a Cloud Knight.

Arius: A Cloud Knight?

Selsera: The Order of Heavenly Knights- that is the Cloud Knights. With their base here in Ketergia, they are a group who was formed to protect Keter Sanctuary from threats both domestic and foreign.

Arius: Ah, the singular form of the Order of Heavenly Knights would be Heavenly Knight, and the singular form of Cloud Knights is just Cloud Knight.

Selsera: It does not matter which of those names you call them by. In addition, their flight powers seem to be tied to their armor.

Arius: Hmm. There’s probably some sort of propulsion device attached to it. I wonder what its power source is?

Selsera: What are you talking about, with your propulsion devices and power sources? It’s obviously flight magic that has been cast on the armor. (This is why scientists are. . .)

Arius: Ah. . . well, you could say that, too. (The relationship between science and magic is hard. . .)

Selsera: Their trademarks are their winged weapons and that ability to fly.

Arius: Whoa, another one flew by! It must be nice, being a Cloud Knight.

Selsera: By the way, it seems there is no limitations to what races can become Cloud Knights. Why don’t you try applying, Arius?

Arius: Ah, I’ll have to decline. . . I’m actually scared of heights.

Selsera: Ho. . . is that so. Then, -!

Arius: Ah- ! Master, stop it! We’re above the clouds, you know. What am I going to do if I fall- ?!

Selsera: It’s fine. If you fall, I’ll make you float with the power of magic. Just like clouds.

Arius: That’s not the issue- !

Selsera: Arius, have you heard of “gallowsball”?

Arius: Yes. When I was little, I watched matches on the Internet, sometimes.

Selsera: That’s unexpected- such an extreme sport.

Arius: My family would get fired up, but it was a little too violent for me. . . ahaha.

Selsera: So you didn’t like it, after all. That sounds like you.

Arius: Besides, traveling with Master means that I have barely any connection to the Internet or television. (We’re always separated from civilization on some mountain, or a faraway sea, or an island, or some ancient ruins. . .)

Selsera: Even so, you must have heard the name of Team “Diabolos”.

Arius: Yes, the famous Diabolos brothers. The fourth son Matt, third son Steve, second son Richard. . .

Selsera: And the first son, Bruce. By the way, all four are demons. Always raring for a fight, planet Cray’s delinquents.

Arius: It seems like there’s plenty of wild stories from both in and out of the stadium- like how when one of the opponent’s team members wanted to back out of the game, they chased them to the edge of the continent. . . or how they got into a huge fight outside the stadium and changed the course of a whole river. . .

Selsera: Truly a man (mhmm, mhmm). Although, of course, you cannot play gallowsball with only four people.

Arius: Diabolos boys, girls, officers. . . From players to cheerleaders and coaches, all the way to behind the scenes, there are a lot of people involved, huh? But everyone’s pretty scary. . .

Selsera: That’s because there’s a rule that you can use firearms as long as it’s an indirect attack. Tackling people, explosions, traps, anything. I quite like it. It’s a shame I don’t get many chances to see it.

Arius: (I’m so glad I’m living a life free from gallowsball.)

Selsera: Fufufu. Arius, to think that there would be a familiar ball in this kind of place. Come, Muu-chan! We will play at gallowsball with the staff MacGuffin.

Arius: E- ehhhh- ?! (That staff can move- ?!)

Selsera: O my apprentice Arius, do you know of the Red Temple of Dawn?

Arius: “Red Temple of Dawn” ?

Selsera: A temple that lies within a mountain in the heart of the Dragon Empire. It’s said that the history of the Red Temple of Dawn is as old as humanity itself.

Arius: Wow. . . So does that mean that a dragon priest presides over it? Since it’s in the Dragon Empire.

Selsera: No, the keepers of the shrine are a human priest and women known as the “Blaze Maidens”.

Arius: I see, there are humans in the Dragon Empire, too. Blaze. . . that must mean the girls perform ceremonies related to fire?

Selsera: Mm. They train at the shrine, too, but the Red Temple of Dawn’s main purpose is to worship and guard something precious that is only found there.

Arius: Something precious that is only found there. . . does that mean some sort of great treasure? Like an idol of a god?

Selsera: An egg.

Arius: An egg?

Selsera: But it’s not just an egg. It’s a holy dragon’s egg, revered since ancient times. Someday, when that egg hatches, it is said that the world will take back hope and the future.

Arius: That really is something important.

Selsera: It’s quite treasured. Once a year, during the “Festival of Alba”, the Blaze Maidens pray for the egg to awaken and dance through the night as an offering. Now that I think about it, I heard a rumor that something strange happened during this year’s Festival of Alba. . .

Arius: Hmm~ I want to go see it someday, that Red Temple of Dawn.

Selsera: Do you want to go visit now?

Arius: Yes. I want to see the dragon’s egg and the Blaze Maidens!

Selsera: Very well. Well, I can ride on Muu-chan’s back and fly there, but you must walk across countless high mountains, and overcome cliffs that are said to lead to certain death if you fall even once.

Arius: Ehh?! Ah. . . I’ll have to refrain this time around.

Selsera: Is that so. It’s been a while since I’ve gone, it would have been nice to visit. . .

Seeker of Knowledge, Selsera

A sadistic and selfish magician whose age is unknown. Has a vast amount of knowledge about the planet Cray.

Adventuring Scientist, Arius

Selsera’s curious and lively apprentice. Has plenty of scientific knowledge.

Selsera: “Knowledge is a treasure, and words are a sword.” We travel across this planet Cray, and gather shards of lost memory.

Selsera: (Huff. . . that’s it.)

Arius: -It’s no time to be acting cool and putting on airs, Lady Selsera! We’ve gotten lost, again!

Selsera: Do you still not understand after traveling together for so long, Arius? Taking the shortest and fastest route to our destination is not a true journey- only movement.

Arius: Ah, is that so. . . Even so, Master, you have a pretty bad sense of direction, don’t you? Well, you’re a magician, so I guess your scouting ability is. . . (mumbling)

Selsera: Silence, greenhorn. Aren’t your science items just pieces of junk when the battery runs out?

Arius: Master, you promised not to mention that. . .

Selsera: I possess the power of magic, the sage’s staff MacGuffin, and Muu-chan. You are a mere apprentice, on probation, a super-super underling- remember that well.

Arius: I’m even lower than the staff?! And Moonback* is that fluffy thing around your neck, right?!

(* Translator’s note: “Muu-chan” seems to be short for “Moonback”.)

Selsera: I won’t forgive you if you make fun of Muu-chan. When Moonback manifests its true form, it matches the strength of a thousand men- it’s the most powerful of beasts. It would swallow the likes of you in one bite.

Arius: Would you please stop setting your beast on your apprentice?

Selsera: Hmph, it’s because you say impudent things. Come, apologize and you will be forgiven.

Arius: . . . I apologize. If you are willing, Lady Selsera, I would like to humbly partake in your teachings once again.

Selsera: Mm, is that it? What happened to the usual? The usual thing?

Arius: Ehh, that again?

Selsera: Raising his master’s spirits is, too, one of the apprentice’s most important tasks.

Arius: . . .

Arius: O greatest treasure of the nation of the Dark States, that one who brings to light the memories of this planet from ancient times to now, the singular, peerless, first and last of your kind, unparalleled in history, our great sage, “Seeker of Knowledge, Lady Selsera”. I beg of you, please bestow the blessings of your wisdom upon me.

Selsera: Very well. You may continue to follow me, O unworthy apprentice. (Ooh, that has a nice ring. . .)

Arius: Hahh. . .

"As the Fated One of Miracles, I want to be more humble about power. I have few desires for myself, and the happiness of others is my joy."

The Cray lore for Divine Z is insanely good, and supplements the canon, so I thought I would share the recent lore up to this point (Hikari's arrival) that ties in with the events of the Fated Clash, and how Suo's wish for "nothing" resulted in "nothing" in a literal sense, thus triggering Hikari's desperate attempts to undo what happened and prevent Suo from (inadvertently?) Thanos-ing all the Fated Clash participants and half the mountain around them.

Anyway, the lore explains that the Fated One of Miracles Rezael was once an Angel Feather who lost his lover in the civil war that broke up the United Sanctuary, and could not save them. He was so distraught about it that he became a wandering messenger, healing those along the way for hundreds of years. He becomes somewhat of a folk hero. A young angel named Soel seeks him out to become his apprentice, and Rezael appears before him when a village Soel is visiting in the Dragon Empire is attacked by flame beasts. Soel begs Rezael to teach him, and Rezael agrees. Thus, they begin their journey together, Soel becoming very aware of a deep chasm of sadness in Rezael's heart.

Along their journey, they meet Varga, who clashes with Rezael (Rezael wins); the legendary idol Krysrain; and he has quite a tussle with Blitz CEO Welstra on the Great Nature University grounds, because Welstra has to be super extra about everything. Welstra informs Rezael mid-fight that the power of being a Fated One means having the power to change history itself - including a tragic past - and this triggers immense anger and sorrow in Rezael, who clashes powerfully head-on with Welstra until Welstra backs off. The power of destiny, Welstra thinks, is tipping toward Rezael.

At the end of the conflict with the Dragontree in Will+dress, Baromagnus assisted Welstra in excavating an old set of ruins said to belong to Gear Chronicle, used for experiments on time travel/time leaping. And it is through these ruins that Welstra, the Fated One of Guiding Star, now leads Rezael.

Deep inside the ruins, there is a kind of mechanical, transparent egg covered in gears. From within it, Rezael hears a voice speak his name.

He knows that voice, and it breaks him.

His lover, from many centuries ago, who died in that terrible conflict and who he could not save with all his power: Liael.

Except... it's not quite "Rezael's" Liael anymore:

"The Fate of Time. I am your Liael, and I am not. The angel of United Sanctuary, Angel Feather, and the one born by the Gear Chronicles.''

She then tells him to retreat from the upcoming conflict, the conflict he knows nothing about yet, or:

"You die, and the world perishes."

For those of you who are interested in Cray lore, bushiroad is slowly starting to put out lore stories in English on its official site! There are little vignettes as well as a longer story.

So I JUST came up with this idea while catching up on the Link Joker reuploads. In this AU, there is a legion--yes, like Legion Mate--of earriors and such who are highly resistent. As Mr. Mark would gasp:

“That’s-that’s the Status Ailment Squad! Also interpreted as the Status Resistance Squad, they come from all the regions of Cray, every clan, to fight on the frontlines--with medicine, of course. No status ailment, as their name suggests, lasts more than more. Combatively, they might not do much, but they are certainly miracles for the fallen! Oh, the honor I’ve been bestowed to see it! They resonate with every clan--or join the Angel Feathers in Cray’s time of need.” And of course, the Sendous have at least one copy of at least one member of the Status Ailment Squad from each clan and region. These members can belong in both whatever clan(s) they come from AND the Angel Feathers, of whom this is a faction and alliance for. Lock, no matter what, would only last one turn, depending on the unit. Some units are immune to certain status ailments, and have conditions to resolve themselves of the status ailment, but it is true nevertheless. Ideal for a fight against the “Psyqualia Zombies” as in the reboot.

The grammar of the Cray Language (the one language that all the clans speak) allows for this particular stricture to have two meanings. The most obvious--and recognized--interpretation is the Status Ailment Squad, while the lesser-picked-up-on meaning is the the Statues Resistance Squad. 

Yes, the Royal Paladins have some, too. Aichi would have at least one of these Angel Feathers--born, raised (,and trained) as Angel Feather--in the fight against Emi in the beach arc (this is still a major plot point, I’m not changing it except for the units used, I suppose. Still Cure Cupid, tho). 

In the fight against Emi, he (now, because active imagination that isn’t typing!) has a Grade 3 and 2 that, well--the opponent cannot Call Grade 2s for the rest of the game. These units can be Silenced, so the no-Grade-2s rule would disappear. BUT, there is a Grade 1 of the same archetype. If she is in the Soul, your opponent cannot call Grade 2s. That means that in order for the effect to last, Aichi would have to not use her in the Soulblasts. She stays there. And he does. These units are some of the ones he used at the second half of the game to secure his win against Emi--which he predicted the outcome for with Psyqualia cuz Flexing.

Sounds cool, eh? Come respond if you also came up with a cool idea for cards that the Sendous in this AU could secretly have--or Cray Lore that you haven’t used yet (and wouldn’t until you started a completely different project/fic). 

Also, about them having over 2000 cards--most of which are at least a few hundred years old; I recall watching Yugioh Sevens. And the MC almost lost a match because his signature card could’ve been illegal, and thus he’d be disqualified.

Here, the copies are already registered in the system (4 or less when in use) as still existing (think Blue Eyes White Dragon); so technically, him using NOT-Paladins is actually Flexing on ZA WARUDO (you know I’m serious when I say ZA WARUDO instead of The World)
