In a few weeks, it's the annual premiere of eating the traditional Swedish food surströmming, a famous (or perhaps infamous) preparation of fermented herring with a... distinctive smell.
My headcanon is that Allenby Beardsley is in fact not a fan of surströmming. This is mostly based on my other headcanon that she's from Gothenburg. Surströmming is a food mainly enjoyed in the northern parts of Sweden, of which Gothenburg is definitely not a part. On the other hand, I do believe that Allenby, like many Swedes, does enjoy eating herring prepared in other ways (pickled, fried, etc.).
August is also the month when Swedes begin eating crayfish, and I can definitely see Allenby attending a traditional crayfish party, wearing a silly party hat and a bib, singing drinking songs while downing shots of strong alcohol, and enthusiastically sucking the meat out of boiled red crayfish.
