A fathers love
He vowed to let you go when you were ready, a father who wore his heart on his sleeve.
He knew he couldn’t keep you under his wing forever, eventually you’d want to leave and explore the vast world.
He couldn’t help it though, keeping close tabs on you.
It didn’t matter you weren’t his biological child, the bond was there and it was stronger than any blood bond.
He had no help with raising you, a female usually raising the child but he didn’t mind. It was a learning experience for the both of you.
Protecting you from any male who wished to court you.
Even when you hinted at leaving the house he’d bristle up like an angry cat, saying he can’t have anything happen to his baby.
He’d even sit inside your room in a rather large recliner watching you sleep, only coming in after you fell asleep.
He knew he couldn’t hold you back forever, but the thought of you walking out that door felt like handing his heart to the unknown.
His precious baby always having the possibility of getting hurt and he just can’t bare the thought.
So he’ll keep you as long as he can, even if it means forcing you to stay.
