Do I seem immature to you?
So I'm going on a rant because it's seven thirty in the morning and I'm tired and exhausted. So I've got a new job in the city (so I'm staying at my dads; I live in a small town about an hour away from here) but my dad and step-mom can't drive me. My aunts giving me lifts to the Uni where I work at a store, just because she's taking classes. Okay! No big deal. I have to take the bus home. Again, whatever. She can't drive me today, and so I said it didn't matter to me, that I'd take the bus there. I've already been on it, all week. I know what I'm doing. I have a license, just not a vehicle. I'll be fine, right? My aunt lives about an hour and a half out from where I am. I told her there was no point in her coming. It was too long of a trip just to check on me (I also wanted to do it on my own; shed been babying me all week) I told her id be fine, and clarified the time and bus I was going on. She said okay. So I leave my house early to get to the bus stop, and whose there? My aunt, shouting at me not to get on the bus. I'm on the wrong side of the street, I know. It's a main one, so the traffic was insane. I was waiting. I ignored her (I was pissed at this point) making her walk over to my side. A bus had pulled up, and I was walking around it, waving it on. "Don't get on! Not that one, I told you!" I was getting annoyed, so I let her know about it. She practically dragged me across the street and was lecturing me about ungrateful I was. Excuse me? I told you not to come in. I wanted to do something by myself, thank you! Then she was muttering about how she was going to be late for a class or something. I. TOLD. HER. NOT. TO COME.
In the age of iPads and Netflix, we don’t want our kids to lose their sense of wonder and imagination. In a time when the answers to all the world’s questions are a web-search away, we want our kids to experience a little mystery. All it takes is some time and energy, creativity, and a few plastic dinosaurs.
This reminds me of the birthday parties that my mother used to throw for the dozen model dinosaurs and various taxidermy pieces that belonged to my aunt with special needs. I always thought this to be a perfectly normal event… that every person’s family celebrated.
Bless my mother’s heart. Every. Single. Year.
OH TUMBLR! HOW I HAVE MISSED THEE! \^o^/
So today we went to my aunt's house to celebrate the birth of my late uncle. (May he rest in peace.) Unfortunately, I didn't really have access to a computer and I had to work on homework for part of the time I was there. Also, my aunt /really/ likes pampering me for some reason. She kept getting things for me - when I could clearly do it myself - and when it time for us to go, she wanted to give me food to take home. My family's full of wackjobs. :D
