“You want the true picture of a man? See him through his daughter’s eyes. That’s his legacy To be deeply loved, if not widely. Truly loved by the one person that knows you best. That’s as good as it gets.”
This quote always gets me. Because I know people don’t always get to know, truly know, their parents. It’s not even a question of time, I know people don’t always truly connect with their progenitor.
But to think that maybe, if given more time, I would’ve? I think of the beers we never get to share, the talks we couldn’t have. I picture nights outside my home, with him smoking a cigar, and looking at the stars. Years of not giving a second thought to his presence in my life. My husband getting to know him
My sister getting to know him.
