The BASSWOOD is one of my favourite wood for carving. It is a light wood and it's easy to work with the chisels and rotary tools. It have a particular smell that recall me the "hot bread". The finishing is not so easy like for the maple wood but good anyway. This is one of my sculpture from basswood: human heart "Mercurialis"
