#cream highlight

Hi guys,

While I have tried my fair share of Charlotte Tilbury products one thing I have never tried is a light highlight, partly because I’ve never been a fan of liquid highlighters. But like all Tilbury products once you try one out they convert you for life.

So today we’re going to be chatting about Charlottes Beauty Light Wand, £29.00. I picked up this liquid highlight in the shade called Spotlight which is described as Candlelit gold, founds fancy am I right! Charlotte designed this product to give anyone that natural glow that almost looks like a filter on the face. On the website it’s described as “luminous complexion with a soft-focused finish, with light reflecting particles for a natural glow”. The highlight formula is such a gorgeous soft glow that blends beautifully with any cream or powder products.

What I love about this highlight besides the formula of course is the packaging design! This highlight had a soft cushion pad that dispenses product evenly, making it blend really easy. I love using things like these because it makes applying the products so precise and gives you a lot more control. It also has a twist at the bottom of the cushion pad so the idea is the give the tub a little squeeze, product goes into the cushion and then you lock the applicator so it doesn’t waste any product.

I’m really glad this is was the first highlighter I tried from Tilbury because the colour is a perfect match for any skin tone, the applicator is so easy and overall it blends like a dream. Recently I’ve really got into creamy / liquid products and I’m enjoying them more and more especially since using this product. I think it’s a good thing to try new things and try products that you may have no liked before because everyone changes their minds. Honestly products like these I would of hated a year ago and now I’m totally converted so maybe it’s work giving products a second chance.

Last year was the year I finally gave in and enjoyed cream products and one of my obsessions became liquid highlighters. I love how easy they are to blend into your face base for a subtle shine but like powder highlighters you can still build them up for intense shine. So that being said I want to share with you my favourites that have been tried and tested so many times I can honestly say they are worth the money. So in no particular order let's start sharing my favourites.

Starting with one of the newest additions to my collection we have the Rare Beauty Positive Light Liquid Luminizer £21.00 in Mesmerize. The highlight is a long-lasting lightweight formula that can be used by itself or layered with other creams / powders without removing your under makeup. With a botanical blend of white waterlily, gardenia and lotus, this liquid highlighter works to nourish and soothe the skin. It is packed with light-reflecting pearl particles to provide a luminous finish to the skin. Rare Beauty has a crazy selection of shades to choose from so there is something for everyone. I got this mini highlighter in a giftset so I could try a few products at once. I use the dot method to apply this highlight and I love the instant shine it gives my skin.

Next up we have my favourite drugstore option which is the Makeup Revolution Bright Light Highlighter £8.00 in Strobe Champagne. I originally bought this highlight because everyone said it was a dupe for the Spotlight Highlighter by Charlotte Tilbury and honestly both have cushion applicators but I would say the Rev highlight is more of a silver shimmer in comparison. This highlight also gives you a gorgeous luminous glow. You can buy these highlighters in 6 shades and if you're looking for a drugstore dupe of CT maybe try this option.

Now we have one of my favourites which I am running out and really need to find a replacement ASAP, we have the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand , £29.00 in Spotlight. This highlight is a stunning candlelit gold shade. I am obsessed with this highlighter, I love the formula and how easy it is to apply over other makeup products whether they are cream or powder products. It's a gorgeous shade and the cushion applicator makes applying the highlight even easier. What I love most about the packaging of this highlighter is the lock. Charlotte added a lock to the applicator so you can decide how much product is in the sponge and then lock the applicator so it doesn't waste product. So simple and yet makes the product last even longer, I have had this lighter over 12 months and it's only running out now so definetley worth investing.

Lastly we have the Fenty Beauty Liquid Killawatt Fluid Freestyle Highlighter 15ml , £24.00 in the shade Vintage Velour. This highlighter is a gorgeous pinky shimmer shade that you can blend out for a sheer glow on the skin or build up for intense shade. This non-sticky, lightweight formula is so easy to wear on top of other face base products and blends without removing product. Unlike others, this highlighter dries down to a more powder like finish on the skin. Now application wise this highlighter can be a little more messy compared to the first 3 as it's in a squeezy tube. This highlighter gives your skin a great luminous effect and I really do love the shade colour, glad I went with something a little more unique.

It’s nothing new to say that the world is obsessed with highlight! That definitely includes me! So when I saw that Marks & Spencers came out with a new makeup range and I saw how pretty the highlight was I knew I needed to have it in my life! I mean seriously this highlighter looks so pretty!

Firstly, in this review I think we should mention the GORGEOUS packaging! I mean this rose gold bullet type shape is just beautiful and also heavily reminds me of Charlotte Tilbury’s packaging which is also gorgeous! However, the type of material used really shows up the finger prints, so if any of you bloggers are looking to photograph it I would suggest wearing gloves cause the fingerprints are EVERYWHERE! The amount I had to clean it for this shot was ridiculous.

However lovely the packaging is that is not really why you are here reading this! You want to know about the product itself! The colour of the highlight is actually really pretty. I don’t know what the official term for this colour is but from someone who is not very artsy, I would say that the colour of this is sort of whiteish with hints of pink, but mainly white. I guess like a SUPER pale pinkish colour?!?!? I don’t know! It’s just really pretty! I guess it reminds me of Nars’ Copacabana highlight? (Not that I’ve ever used that, but from images I feel that it looks the same!)

This highlighter is super pigmented! It comes out nice and clear and you can see it against the skin. Some people might be ok with how it looks without blending it, but for me I seriously need it blended out. It’s a bit too much otherwise, I need a subtle but obvious highlight if you know what I mean! (like I guess I want people to notice it, but I don’t want people to be able to see it from Mars).

Application wise this highlighter does come out rather hard, so when applying this on the skin, I feel like it can drag the skin a bit, so its not completely smooth like other cream highlighters would be. I haven’t tried it perhaps applying this highlighter with a brush might improve this if like me you don’t like the dragging feeling, however you could lose the pigmentation of the highlight?!?!

There we go, my review of the Rosie for Autograph Starstruck Highlighter. It retails for about £15 at Marks & Spencers, so more expensive than some, but in my opinion definitely worth the money!
