An Ode to Coffee

I have just woken up

and my mind is in a fog

like my mind was once a fountain

and then turned into a bog.

My schedule is so hectic

and I need a quick solution

Caffeine is my answer

to this heavy-eyed confusion.

I’m saying I need coffee

(That liquid of the gods)

That berry of the Africans

that grows inside of pods.

So I lurch to my coffeepot

(I am a morning zombie)

and I prepare all my measurements

to make my morning coffee.

When I finally drink a cup

and I’ve had my caffeine fill

My mind is prepared to do

all of my daily drills

My eye pupils are dilated

and my mind is all abuzz

a sharp and vivid picture

replaces my static fuzz.

When I drink my morning coffee

I am propped up with a stick

the caffeine is all working

to clear my fog so thick.

And up I go to do my chores

I am running everywhere I can

I feel like a crazy bee

on a mission with no plan!!!

I am NOT addicted

(But I love the high I get)

I give it up every now and then

and no withdrawals yet!

Cream and sugar. or plain ol’ black

the combination’s are endless.

Made right, it is liquid cake

that doesn’t count as breakfast!

Thus, is my ode to coffee

and without it, life would just be

full of dull and drowsy zombies.

This is a new candle line that I’ve launched today. Crystal Fire, soy wax candles. This vintage cream and sugar set features a cut glass design with raised flowers and flourishes along the sides. It has a squashed diamond shape that adds even more interest. It would feel right at home on the dining table or on a sideboard. As the candle burns the firelight shines and sparkles through. Vanilla scented with 4 ounces each of soy wax. You will get approximately 25 hours each of burn time! Once the candle has finished burning, wash with warm soapy water and reuse. It is hand poured with all-natural soy wax, braided cotton wicks, and scented oils. Just wax, wick, and scent with no other additives or dyes. These are sold as a pair Dimensions: sugar bowl aprox 6 long, including handles x 3" wide x 3" deep. Cold-brew coffee is a smooth and refreshing way to enjoy coffee, especially on hot days. It's less acidic than hot-brewed coffee and can be customized to your taste with sweeteners and cream.

Ingredients: 1 cup coarsely ground coffee beans. 4 cups cold water. Ice cubes optional. Sweetener of your choice optional. Milk or creamer optional.

Instructions: In a large jar or pitcher, mix the coarsely ground coffee beans with cold water. Make sure to mix the coffee grounds well so that they are all fully saturated. Put the jar or pitcher in the fridge with the lid on for at least 12 hours, or up to 24 hours for a stronger brew. Pour the cold brew concentrate into a different container through a fine-mesh sieve or coffee filter after letting it steep. This will get rid of the grounds. To serve, add water or milk to the cold brew concentrate until it's the strength you want. If you want it cold, add ice cubes. If you want it sweeter, you can use any kind of sweetener you like. Add milk or creamer to taste and serve in a glass. Have fun with your cold-brew coffee!
