(CW for talk of child death and horror/Sonic.EXE AUs in case anyone from our source doesn't want to see this!)
I wonder why I'm so utilized in fandom horror content. Somewhat recently on Twitter an artist that puts my character in horror situations (like getting replaced by a shapeshifting monster or having creepy imaginary friends) got a viral post and in that one really popular EXE-inspired fangame back in the day, Sally.EXE, I had arguably the most grusome death shown on-screen and I think aside from the obvious main guys— Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Eggman— I'm probably the 5th most used character in this kind of thing? I might be wrong since this is just based on what I've seen and I haven't been into EXE stuff for a couple years now. It might be Metal Sonic or Amy nowadays. Shrugs!
I guess it's just sort of interesting that I (and Tails, for that matter, since age and all that) am so often used in this content. I get it though! The juxtaposition of an innocent, sweethearted character being put in horrific situations is interesting! Dead or demonic children is like, a huge thing in horror anyways (so many horror movies involve children, and FNaF's whole thing is dead children, and plenty of fandoms have horror AUs based on the kids in the series. Like... Poképastas, but all the main characters in Pokémon are like 10 so it's not really a fair comparison.) Although it does make me wonder why Charmy isn't used as often, though it might just be a popularity thing and people not knowing how to write him. I don't think I've ever actually seen ANY of the Chaotix in EXE or horror content? (...other than Knuckles, and back in the day I actually made one about Ray based on a glitch in Sonic Mania that I never posted anywhere, but I mean the main 3 Team Chaotix members.) Huh. Missed opportunity. There are a lot of characters I haven't seen, it's usually just the same handful of characters.
Anyways this was a long message, sorry about that! I just noticed a pattern and wanted to ramble about it :) — Cream the Rabbit (fictive)
