SireRodrigo extended and retracted his claws somewhat nervously. From exile to clan leader, imagine that, the feeling was truly surreal. In that moment, he decided he would never admit to anyone his uncertainty for what the future held. He had never had to care for anyone other than himself so the concern for others was new to him. He felt empowered knowing soon he would not only be able to protect himself, but others too, he knew he could do it, he knew he would do better than those before him. He purposefully explored his new territory soaking up every single wildflower that rustled in the wind, he noted every upturned stone. SireRodrigo found himself on the western end of his territory having crossed the creek, climbed across the rocks, and scenting every single trail entrance already established into the surrounding forest.
Perhaps it was just a result of sensory overload, but his mind was racing. Indeed there was a lot to do, and there was so much that would happen over the coming moons that he simply could not plan for. It's a strange feeling to know everything your life consisted of up until this point was about to change. He felt the urge to do something more productive than simply go out for a stroll on a nice day, regardless of the necessity of familiarizing himself with this new territory.
SireRodrigo headed into the forest. He thought perhaps some simple prey would cross his path which would be a perfect opportunity to start a stockpile, there would be more mouths to feed soon enough. He wasn't all too surprised to find himself in a obviously flourishing forest, it was more than ideal for hunting. Kills were easy to make and he painstakingly created a sorted stockpile at the base of the rock formation he had scaled earlier. The rock formation was significant in size, and located in a place where you could see far and wide when you reached the top. SireRodrigo felt it could very well be the central location for the clan, he wanted it to be protected at all times, and he also knew he couldn't do it himself.
SireRodrigo covered the small stockpile with some stones and greenery and headed to the Moonpool, he knew it was time for RodrigoClan to grow. The journey to speak to StarClan is never an easy one, even if you have no encounters on the way. It always wise to keep on constant guard anyway. It was the beginning of Greenleaf, so the sun was warm on your back - sometimes too warm, and it was known to be very easy to dehydrate while on this journey. He knew one of the smartest routes to take was the one following the creek all the way back to where it opens up into the same stream that fills up the Moonpool. Terrain wise, it wasn't difficult to navigate, after all the flood waters are always very low during Greenleaf. When crossing through other clans outlying territories he kept low to the ground to ensure he stayed out of the view of patrols on duty. He was also mindful of the twolegs, dogs, and other possible enemies out searching for stragglers.
Having almost reached the stream without any incident, the newly empowered leader felt a surge of pride for having gotten this far. It's times like these that he simply could not help but be thankful for how things turned out. He really had the odds stacked against him afterall, he was born of a forbidden romance. His mother faced death if she did not exile him, her only son, and the only survivor of what will have been her only litter. Most kits do not survive a situation like this, however he was lucky to be born a Queen who loved him unconditionally. She wisely left him in a small abandoned den located in a particularly uninhabited area on the outskirts of several clans with incredibly peaceful alliances. Her hope had been that none of the clans would harm her kit since they would not know from which clan he originated from. She knew no one would dare kill the kit of one of their allies, that would be an unforgivable violation the warrior code. In fact, it violated most codes, at least any worth paying any mind to. He was able to fend for himself for quite some time out there as a young kit. He perfected his hunting on small mice and large bugs since they were plentiful. All alone, he managed to grow into a decently strong tomcat. He of course never had the chance to be a part of a clan, or a family, he was never trained as an apprentice, medicine cat, warrior, or deputy - but he watched them all from his favorite hiding place, a tall oak tree. He learned more than anyone could possibly imagine, he was prepared to lead, and he knew this as he approached the Moonpool and spoke out to StarClan.
"StarClan, I know that you know why I am here, so first I wish to thank you. Thank you for allowing me to lead a clan, thank you for watching over me all these years, I know it is the only reason I stand before you right now. As SireRodrigo, Leader of the RodrigoClan, I graciously request that you further bless me with a cat to walk alongside me until one of us return to you in spirit. The rank of this new member of the RodrigoClan I leave up to your choosing as you know what is best.
